View Full Version : Who does Vitali have to beat... Bombardier 12-13-2004, 10:43 AM ...to be considered once and for all the current reigning heavyweight champ? IwatchBoxing 12-13-2004, 10:46 AM Everyone with a belt J ! 12-13-2004, 10:46 AM for me personally no one but guess he should take on the others and try and unify, why not, not a lot else for him to do is there? Toney not big enough though he is talented enough, tyson shot, lewis retired, williams beaten, who else Krasniq, jeez that would be worse than Williams..rahman maybe I suppose then set up unifying the belts. he is the best out there as far as i am concerend tho. Bombardier 12-13-2004, 10:47 AM I meant for this thread to be a poll but I messed it up. My options were going to be: -Ruiz -Byrd -Toney -Tyson -Lennox has to come out of retirement -None - There are no good fighters out there to match him up against -None - There's nothing more he needs to do -None - He will never be considered the true champ Feel free to pick one of these or make up something else. pinkpanther 12-13-2004, 10:48 AM I don't really care as to me it doesn't mean a great deal being the no.1 heavyweight in the current division but I would like to see him and his brother go to war - but apparently there mummy won't let them! Bombardier 12-13-2004, 10:48 AM Everyone with a belt Too bad it won't happen, as long as DK is running most of the show. IwatchBoxing 12-13-2004, 10:51 AM Too bad it won't happen, as long as DK is running most of the show. Why Don King would love it more money for him Bombardier 12-13-2004, 10:54 AM Why Don King would love it more money for him Problem is he tried the same thing with the middles and got burned when Hopkins ran away with all the titles. Memories of that must still gnaw at him. He must be feeling the pressure right now though to match up one of his guys with Vitali, from the press, from other promoters, from the networks, and probably from the fighters themselves. PBDS 12-13-2004, 11:20 AM ...to be considered once and for all the current reigning heavyweight champ? .....He doesn't have anbody to beat to prove now that he is the best. He is the best out there right now as is period. Destroying Byrd or Ruiz would do nothing to change his status and both fights would be a foregone conclusion and non competitive. When he is recognized my most as the man there is no need to unify and try to compromise with King. He doesn't need King, Ruiz, or Byrd to prove anything. He should take on Rahman to expose him as the one punch fraud that he is, shut Toney's big mouth for good, and then smack down a couple of the young guns that are up and coming(ie: Peter). He should leave the other belt holders(pretenders) to Wlad if he ever gets his **** together. Nobody can touch Vit right now and baring an injury his reign will be long. realtim 12-13-2004, 11:23 AM He has to unify all the belts if he has all the belts then that means he is undisputed. Beat all the top guys. Dude 12-13-2004, 01:35 PM I consider him the only current HW champion right now. He won the WBC belt after Lewis retired and that's the only belt I care about at the HW division. scramwarrior 12-13-2004, 01:39 PM Logically, I would usually say he needs to unify the belts to become the undisputed champion. But popular opinion is so huge for VK already being the undisputed champion, that there is really no need to unify if Don King refuses to set up any fights with Byrd, Ruiz, or Brewster. With there not being a whole lot of talent in the HW division, King has really backed himself into a corner this time. He is definitely the worst promoter in boxing. K-Yo 12-13-2004, 01:48 PM he is the best fighter in the division no doubt, i didnt even have to see saturdays fight to know this. 33/34 wins are kos, tells me that he aint nothin to **** with. never been knocked down, and never been knocked out. his only losses were stopped, one due to a torn shoulder, the other on cuts, both in fights he was winning. i thought he would beat lewis in the first fight, and he was winning until it got stopped. hes one of the best in the last 10years. Mr. Violence 12-13-2004, 01:53 PM ...to be considered once and for all the current reigning heavyweight champ? hello bombadier I believe he must unify the title in order to be considered the one and only champ. paulmmv 12-13-2004, 02:09 PM just byrd to redeam his lost to him scramwarrior 12-13-2004, 02:14 PM just byrd to redeam his lost to him Yeah, there are two fights that I would pay for if they happened. A VK-Lewis rematch or a VK-Byrd rematch. These are the only two that seem to be significant right now. Pno 12-13-2004, 04:28 PM they're being prevented because if VK did crush them, there would be no leg for the haters to stand on :P RussianArm 12-13-2004, 04:56 PM .....He doesn't have anbody to beat to prove now that he is the best. I agree, I think a match-up with Rahman is inevitable since he is the best fighter besides the 3 king - owned champions, I just don't see Byrd's slaps, Ruiz's hugs, or Lamon Brewster's chin effecting Vitali at all. Rahman is a seasoned veteran and just might provide for an exciting fight/test for the elder Klitschko. |
