Does anyone see Rahman as possibly Klitcshko's next opponent? I think that would be an interesting fight for boxing fans and a competitive fight for Klitcshko.

Klitschko probably would win but Rahman is a dangerous fight and I would give him a chance.

Mayweather,I can't see Vitali's next opponent being anybody other than the other beltholders(Byrd,Ruiz,Brewster). I personally would like to see the belts unified before Vitali fights any other top contenders. By the way awesome picture of Klitscho hitting Danny in the mug!

Your right he probably will try to unify the titles but Rahman would a good fight for the future.

Rahman is one of those guys..
not so consistant.. but if he lands a punch that he truly wants, he can starch an opponent (see Lewis in Africa even though Lewis wasn't taking the fight too serious)

I'd like to see Rahman prove himself more before getting that chance... might as well let him try for another belt, like Brewsters :)

I can't see Vitali's next fight being against any King fighter.

Pno
12-12-2004, 06:42 PM
who can you see it being then?

it seems to me like it HAS to be... King holds all the other belts and then some :)

Toney is 1, Barrett is 3, and a bunch of Euros are 6, 8, 9, and 10.

yeah, Toney might be likely, since he's been talking all this trash about Vitali... could be his chance to back it up...

I imagine Don King will find a way to mess things over. He soon may hype a Byrd-Ruiz "super fight" that i'm just chomping at the bit to fork 50 bucks over for.

For Vitali, I kinda like a possible Rahman-Klitchko fight. If Rocks on his game he would give Klitchko major problems.

something really cool better happen dammit..
i'm tired of being the victims of Don Kings empire..
why dont they just let the gladiators beat the **** out of each other... entertainment!

Klitschko would win, and I don't even see it being very competetive . . .

Pno
12-12-2004, 07:17 PM
yeah
they should just let him beat up every other HW just to prove that he can and make everyone stop suggesting that he's rubbish (not sayin that's what this thread is about, not looking for arguements :)

I'd like to see Toney first..
I haven't seen much of his fights, plus he seems to talk a lot.. and I love it when a trash talker is put to shame and waste by someone who is humble and quiet :)

i think klitschko will beat rahman, but i think it would be a good fight. klitschko is too big for rahman. rahman did look good against meehan, but you can not compare klitschko to meehan because meehan is not even close to klitschkos level.

Rahman's win over Meehan was a WBC eliminator; that's why he's likely the next opponent for the WBC champ (Klitschko)

wow, so it's come to meehan and Rahman being involved in determining who is manditory challenger :(

that's what they said on the Nov. 13 PPV. OF course #1s and mandatories don't always fight the champ, but Rahman's got a shot if they can work it out from what I understand.

Toney probably doesn't want VK in his first fight back from the injury from the Booker fight. He needs another bum to loosen himself up. He can't be that tight against Vit and stand a chance.

According to who besides Don King? I thought it was a WBA eliminator but Boxrec has it listed as this "IBF Heavyweight Eliminator for the #2 spot."

I think that now Klit has about 8 months to fight his mandatory.

Klit can fight somebody else first if he chooses. He may chose to fight Toney first.

If VK's hands were injured, it would be silly to fight before 8 mos.

the longer they prolong the unification bouts, the more of a chance there will be some sort of riot or death of HW boxing ...

heavyweight boxing will be dead til the next Tyson or Holmes comes along, or at least the next Bowe.

i'd say it will only be dead to the haters once VK unifies the division...

"Rahman can beat Klitschko" - Lennox

By Anthony Evans in Las Vegas pic by Mr Will : Retired World Heavyweight Champion Lennox Lewis believes the only man capable of defeating his old foe and replacement as the dominant heavyweight, Vitali Klitschko, is another former nemesis - Hasim Rahman.

Klitschko made a hugely impressive first defence of his title at the Mandalay Bay Event Center last night, hammering a beyond courageous but outclassed Danny Williams to a one-sided eighth round defeat. Hard to hit, tactically aware, heavy-handed, hard-chinned and deceptively fast, 'Dr Ironfist' looked a very powerful heavyweight champion indeed in spite of his awkward and somewhat clumsy style.

Lewis holds a win over the giant Ukrainian, a sixth round technical stoppage in June 2002 - in a fight Klitschko was clearly winning before Lewis hacked the flesh from around Klitschko's eyes and forced the intervention of the ringside doctor. And, of course, Lewis and Rahman knocked each other out with single right hands in a brace of fights in 2001.

Now Lewis wants to see his two toughest opponents fight each other.

"Rahman impresses me again," the Londoner told SecondsOut. "He's back in shape and an in-shape Hasim Rahman can take it to Vitali Klitschko. I was impressed with what he did (against Kali Meehan) last month and he deserves a shot at the WBC title. I think Rahman liked being champion (April 2001 to November 2001) and now is very hungry to take that title back now I am retired."

Lewis clearly doesn't think too much of "too small" reigning IBF champion Chris Byrd (who, like Lewis, holds an injury win over Klitschko) or WBA bore-athon John Ruiz.

"Man, when I see that Ruiz I want to throw the television set out of the window. It is just - ugh!"

Quite.

So in a depleted heavyweight division Lewis believes Klitschko v Rahman is the best fight out there.

"I think it'd be a very tough fight between them," the three time champ said. "You have to have a jab to beat Klitschko and Rahman has a good jab. He'll also get a lot closer to Vitali than Danny Williams did and put more pressure on him. Klitschko doesn't like pressure."

Although the Ukrainian seemed to handle everything Lewis was throwing at him...

"I would have knocked Klitschko out in the next round," Lewis said. "Maybe Rahman can get there and do what I would have done had the doctor let Klitschko come out for the seventh round."

"Lennox always was a very smart man," laughed 'the Rock' when informed of his old rival's appraisal. "Because he fought us both, Lennox knows that you have to jab this guy (Klitschko) to win and Lennox also knows I've got the best jab in the division.

"I'll know this Klitschko guy right out. I can't wait for this fight. Klitschko is supposed to have an early March date from HBO? Great. My wife'e birthday is March 5 and I won't even have to get her a present - I'll just give her my brand new WBC title."

Rahman, who went four fights without a win following his upset win over Lewis in April 2001, let's not fail to remember, is now the WBC No.1 contender and Klitschko is obligated to fight him by June 2005 at the latest.

We need a champ like that.

Lewis Lewis Lewis...
didn't he pick williams to win?
didn't he pick sanders to win?

it's sad to see Lewis like this.. it's almost embarrasing.

on the PPV last night before the fight he said he thought Vitali would win, though he qualified it with Williams could win if blah blah blah blah

but he definitely was conveying that VK was his favorite to win

And of course he picked Sanders, he was promoting him.

exactly.

i just wish he'd fight vk himself, so whenever he has something to say about vk, everyone could just say 'you got your arse kicked by him, so shut up'

or if he wins, he could say 'lewis can beat vk'

The best case scenario would be a Toney-Rahman matchup with the winner to fight Klitschko, but this is boxing and that would just be too perfect . . . .
