View Full Version : Am Alone In Thinking Branco Could Give Cotto Trouble??
ThunderGatti 08-12-2005, 10:48 AM Is it just me or does anybody else think Branco could give Cotto some trouble? Cotto is a fighter very similiar to Gatti. They both put on excessive weight before the fight and their brawling style is similiar as well. Cotto may have a bit more speed but Gatti has a bit more power, and Branco took some thunder that night. So Branco does have a chin. S if Branco could go the full 12 w/ my boy Arturious, I have no doubt barring a cut or severe swelling he could go the full 12 w/ Cotto
But it comes down to how prepared will Cotto be if comes out like he did against "Chop Chop" Branco will be successful, at least in the early rds. (One mystery is Branco sometimes fights 8 rd bouts in Italy) But he did go a full 12 w/ Gatti.
Im not picking Cotto to lose his alpha bet title at 140 just yet it will come at the end of 2006, since Cotto says says he is staying at 140 for at leats 12-18 months, The Magic Man Paul Malignaggi will take Cotto's title and force him to move into 147 a bit earlier than expected - You heard it hear first
RAESAAD 08-12-2005, 10:55 AM He could. He has shown he is tough it'll be interesting to see.

Cotto will not come in the same way he did against chop, the last fight prove that. He was fighting in front of his people and was fighting crazy...that's already been established. Gatti does NOT have more power than cotto and their NOT the same type of fighter. Cotto has better boxing and defensive skills than Gatti. Cotto is going to knock this guy out! I give Branco 9 rounds before he quits or hits the canvas.

agreed 100000000%, giv him 10 max
You guys know that I am still a littile suspect on Cotto and I actually think Branco won the fight against Gatti and they kept giving Gatti the rounds just because he was Gatti but this fight will be a blow out.
Cotto will beat him in 5 or less. He is ready made for Cotto because he is a boxer but not a great one and he doesnt have the power or skills to keep Cotto honest so I think Cotto will tee off on him and I think Branco starts getting a littile scared and curls up.
He did great against Gatti because Gatti isnt that good and Gatti tried to outbox him when Gatti isnt a real boxer. Cotto will eat him alive. He better start fighting better guys because this is a trash fight if I have ever seen one. I want to see him go to England to fight Hatton next. I think Cotto would win

If what you say is true, you'll finally redeem yourself from your crazy Gatti/Mayweather prediction, in my opinion.
mic573 08-12-2005, 11:36 AM Cotto will get rid of Branco easy. Gatti struggled with him but Cotto will blow him out.
Cotto will have no problem with Branco, absolutely no problems. Branco gave Gatti a tough time but at no time in the last year or two did I believe Gatti to be on the same level as Cotto.
This fight is not even close and after a couple rounds everyone will want this one to end so we can get down to business.
Peter vs. Wlad!
Branco is a rubbish fighter and this is a serious mismatch, Gatti made him look. Junior witter even though I do not like him would have stopped him five rounds easily cotto will. This is a walk in the park for him, I cannot understand why he did not fight Witter bigger name
Soldier01 08-12-2005, 11:58 AM After this fight he should definitely fight a bigger name. I'm pretty sure Arum knows what he's doing with the matchmaking after all he did great with DLH.
PRboxingfan 08-12-2005, 01:28 PM I doubt Branco even comes close. He is not a power puncher and has little defensive skills, plus he always comes forward (good for Cotto who fights better going back and counterpunching). This is an easy win for Cotto.
.::EnRiQuE::. 08-12-2005, 01:36 PM cotto should work the body early alot then i can see him stopping branco in like 7 or 8
DiegoFuego 08-12-2005, 01:37 PM I predicted Branco to win this fight the instant I heard it was being discussed. Branco almost beat Gatti on my card, and I think unless Cotto knocks him out early-mid rounds, Branco takes a decision. Hope I'm wrong cuz I really like Cotto
Parodius 08-12-2005, 01:38 PM I don't see Branco giving Cotto any problems. Cotto will win this fight easily.
.::EnRiQuE::. 08-12-2005, 01:40 PM the only probelms branco will give cotto is his jab
DANGER13 08-12-2005, 02:12 PM cotto is gonna **** this guy up. cotto is an all around fighter he knows how to box and has decent power. cotto is gonna dominate either late ko or an easy one sided decision.
BLOODSHED 08-12-2005, 02:30 PM Branco didnt do too badly against the new improve and more technical Gatti. But there still is a question mark around Cotto since the Corley fight. Sadly, I dont think Branco will answer that question mark.

There should no question mark because of the fight with Corley. He took a well placed counter shot to the temple. A shot like that can make anyone off balance. Cotto is a smart fighter and will have no problems taking this guy out.
moochi 08-13-2005, 07:02 AM if cotto is fighting on his feet and in the states / P.R, he'll be guaranteed a points win........he fought so **** against abdullaev, yet all the judges had him way ahead on the cards......otherwise i thought he was lucky that abdullaev's eye shut.......

Lucky that Aby's eye shut? C'mon man, look at Aby's face....
Konstantin 08-13-2005, 11:51 AM Yea that was a biased comment. I thought he was boxing quite well...

Nope. He's wrong again.
