Dempsey a racist? I don't know about that. Are you basing this on the fact that he didn't fight Harry Wills? The truth is, he put his name on the dotted lines, but the fight never happened due to financial reasons. It wasn't Jack's fault; he wanted to fight the guy badly.

I didn't know him personally (duh), so I can't say for sure, but I'd like to see some racist quotes from him because I hear it all the time, "Dempsey was a racist!", yet I never see any proof. I've read his autobiography, another biography on him written by Roger Kahn, as well as portions of Dempseys guide to fighting (which is an awesome read) and I've never seen anything to hint that he was racist.

Having watched the old films of Dempsey et al, I do believe that the modern boxing era's fight style, training methods, etc, would have led to a prime Tyson knocking Dempsey out within 4 rounds.

Tyson was, in his prime, an unstoppable windmill!
