I am not even a big fan of the Da Vinci Code......but damn Sony Pictures are a bunch of *******.

Don't they realize that they will sell FAR more tickets if the Catholic League laments about how offended they are?

Also, if the Da Vinci code is as full of **** as they say it is, then why are they so scared?

The Da Vinci Code is full of ****. Its fiction. You never hear the author defending it. Im sure its a good book otherwise it wouldn't have sold so well. Sounds pretty good too, untill you look at the probability of the whole thing.

It basically says that the Holy Grail is actually Jesus' bloodline and that Mary actually Married Jesus and Leonardo Davinci knew all this and gave clues in his painting of the last supper.

The story is fiction. But the documents he cites exist.

I wouldn't say it is totally fiction. Everything in the book is quite plausible. It could go either way. The bible isn't totally fact either.

Exactly.

The information it gives about the Council of Nicea is pretty accurate in fact.

What documents the bloodline list? If they find that, I will give the whole thing another look.

What do you mean the Bloodline list?

I am talking about the Gospel of Phillip and some of the other "Gnostic Gospels".

Oh that? **** that doesn't change anything.

Well, it is interesting reading, considering Phillip is supposedly one of the Apostles and the document was written by him.

Going back to the issue of the Movie....if Ron Howard had any spine at all he would put his foot down about this.

What document? He and some others had their own gospels written. The difference was they felt the Jesus and Mary were closer to each other than the other appostles. The Da Vinci Code sounds just like a hollywood movie- hence sonys interest.

Actually there are no direct Gospels from the Apostles IN THE BIBLE. That is the interesting thing.

Agreed, I just read the book. And I have to say that they are going to ruin any chance of the film being any good if they stray from the book. And the artical got one thing wrong, the book had it that Mary Magdelene was of royal blood aswell, not a whore, thus the offspring of her and Jesus(king of the jews) would be a huge threat to the people fighting for power in rome at the time, who slaughtered everyone and rewrote history in the eveny of creating the catholic church. Quite plausible really. Much more plausible then the way the bible explains things.

Also, Opus Dei is complaining that they are being portrayed in a negative light when THEY aren't even the REAL villains in the book. They had just been manipulated. They obviously didn't read the end of the book.

Kinda reminds me of how women everywhere were offended by the Prodigy video for "Smack My ***** Up" saying it encouraged male violence against women. They didn't watch the end of the video.

exactly, they obviously didn't read it, and I'm still suspicious of the fact they gave the catholic church close to a billion dollars. Not even the U.S government spends that kind of cash without giving a reason.

from a profitability standpoint, it's very smart of Sony to try to appease both sides of the arguement. they're not trying to take a stand, they're trying to make money off of a movie.

By watering it down and ruining the story.

all novels-gone-movies are watered down versions of the book. if i want the full details & plot then i'll read the book. but i'm pretty sure Sony's done their homework and found this way much more profitable. just ask Viacom about how much $$ you lose when you offend the religious tightwads of America.

SONY would have made more money if the Catholic League spoke about how offended they were.

DOgma was #1 at the Box Office the weekend it opened if I recall correct. Why? Because the Catholic league was boycotting it. People wanted to see what the fuss was about.

Wait.....there's a major movie coming out that isn't a remake, or based on an old television program ?
Wow, I didn't know they still made those.

Well, they make them if they're based on bestselling novels or children's books. But if they have to actually come up with their own ideas? Forget about it.

What is it that Silas finds in the church where he has to break the floor - the Job 38:11 stone?
