How do you breathe when you are sparring. I know you should breath out through your mouth when punching. How about the rest of the time and when your not punching? Is it in through your nose and out through your mouth, or just through breathe your nose.

u can breathe out the tiny gap in ya mouth, thats why guys like RJJ and Mundine have a sharp tsss sound when they punch. breathing out ya mouth can be said quicken the punch or reaction time. All fast punchers breathe out of the mouth when throwing fast combo.e.g. rjj, ali, mundine. if ya mouth is wide open and u tried, thats when u get ya jaw broken.

Hunna got it on the nail. You want to exhale when you punch. The nose works fine but breathing the mouth helps get a little more out of the punches.

The rest of the time through the nose. Keeps you from getting tired.

The only time your mouth should be open is to talk a little smack or when you are on the stool.

Why does everyone say this. Why does breathing through your nose and out of your mouth not tire you out as much? It doesnt make sense.

heh, I've never been to a boxing gym and always thought boxers would breathe in during punching not to get tired, glad I cleared this up
