Nowadays, anybody can be a "champion". All that "Vs. champion" stuff I don't think is going to change anybody picking Mayorga's mind.

when was mayorga knocked out!?

Ricardo Mayorga was TKO'd in Round 6 by Humberto Arando on 8-29-1993, which just happened to be his first professional fight (what happened to starting with 4-rounders?), which is an interesting trivia note but has nothing to do with this fight.

Arando has gone to a 28-13 record, most recently being stopped by Kermit Cintron in January.

Mayorga was inactive from December 1995 to January 1998. Upon his return to the ring, he lost 2 of his first 3 back, decisions to Roger Benito Flores and Henry Castillo.

Since the Castillo fight, he is 19-1 with 2 NC's, the only loss coming via split decision to Spinks, in a fight where Mayorga was penalized 2 points and was not credited with a knockdown, which Ricardo disputed.

That last paragraph is most relevant to this fight.

Both fighters have been inactive for 2 years + . . . but check the names of the opponents that Tito has run through :D This fight will show if Tito still has it in his system.
