There were very few on this site that thought Michael Moorer had a prayer against Vassily Jirov...Except for Soundtraveler, myself, pbds and maybe a few others. It wasn't that any of us think anything of Michael Moorer (I probably shouldn't speak for others, but I wll)it's that Jirov has serious limitations that were not exposed last night, rather long before.

I have traveled twice to watch Jirov live(vs Letterlough, vs. Castro)....I love the guy however he can't get out of the way of a melting iceburg! No one at all wondered, maybe he has taken a few too many shots???? His beatings against MEsi and Toney were horrific and it appears that his two round rally against Mesi tricked the vast majority of you.

How many of you have Michael Moorer in the top 15? It sickened me last night listening to everyone talk about how Moorer may be in line for a title shot, what a ****in joke! Who has Jirov beaten at HW and did Michael Moorer even look remotely impressive, why would that entitle him to a ****in shot at the title?

I spoke to a friend last night on the phone who is tight with some writers at **********....the writers said that while interviewing Jirov and his people at his hotel the big question was...will you leave the heavyweight division and go back down to crusier....apparently Team Jirov was not willing to budge, they are remaining at HW.

So maybe many on this board are as blind as Vasily Jirov...hopefully some of you finally woke up last night...I just wish our boy Jirov was one of them!

iv'e said before i think jirov's a bum, even before the toney fight. when he signed to fight toney i knew he would lose big time. he is mistaken in thinking he's going anywhere at hw, he'll just get used by guys who want a few rounds.

if this gets moorer a title shot, then he's on his way to a KO loss.... unless he fights byrd, in which case he'll be ***** slapped to a loss...

Moorer has no future at heavyweight, he needed a lucky shot to beat a cruserweight who was outclassing him. I just don't understand Moorer he seems like a good guy and all, but half the time he looks like he doesn't even wanna be in there. Moorer always was a very talented guy, but he needs a guy like Teddy Atlas to get all over him to break out some heart and will to win-- he just not a motavated guy.

i still think Jirov is ok at HW. he fought a great fight winning just about everyround, and should have been allowed to continue. he got hit with a good shot by a hard hitting HW. It would happen to anyone. he has out fought 2 top HW and lost, just a bit of bad luck i think, the guy is a good fighter and showed it last night.

He needs some freaking defense. You can't just take punches like that against heavyweights. It wasn't just one shot that Moorer caught Jirov with. I think Jirov may have gotten the worst of the headbutts, as those cuts seem to prove, and throughout the fight each time Moorer caught Jirov, Jirov's head snapped back. The last round Jirov just had no defense. He was ahead, there was no point in going toe to toe like that when you are ahead and when it is only the 9th round with 3 more rounds to go.

I agree he should have just throw one-twos and box from the outside in the last couple of rounds, since he was clearly winning.

.....Excellent and well thought out post. It definitely sounds like Jirov is planning to stay at heavy and I think that's a big mistake on his part.

My reasoning for picking Jirov had nothing to do with me thinking he is that good at Heavy. It had more to do with Micheal Moorer being a has been without whisker fortitude. Jirov was winning the fight, got careless and fought a stupid game plan. Congrats to Moorer for winning and proving me wrong with my prediction. Neither guy has much of a chance to win any heavyweight titles in my opinion. Moorer is too slow and that chin will fail him against the big boys. Jirov is a tough guy with skill, but is too small and lacking heavyweight power. I'm just happy we got to see an interesting Heavyweight battle.
