OK I'll admit I watched the Next Great Champ only because I love Oscar!! I thought the idea of a boxing reality show was cool and not cool. I really hate most TV and I really hate reality TV and this show was so hyped up there were a lot of ****heads on there and a bunch of guys actin like jelous little *****es of eachother
THere's gonna be a new one called the Contender and I am definetely going to watch it because I think Stallone is producing it but Sugar Ray Leonard is gonna be helping with the fighters!! I love Sugar Ray but I bet the show'll suck
anyway did any of you guys watch the next great champ? I was really dissapointed with the end of it and pretty much the whole show but who cares I love Oscar De Lahoya

I watched one episode. It was ok. Never saw how it ended. I will probably try to watch at least one ep. of the contender, see if it captures my attention.

Those guys on that show make boxing look bad.
Alot of them don't even know how to stand correctly, and none of them can jab..
They fight out of rhythm, like an irregular heart beat or something..

The fact that they didn't show full fights killed it for me. If there's one thing boxing fans like, it's watching a fight over and over and analyzing it to death. I hated being told what to think about the fight by their ****ty commentators and only shown the portions that they wanted me to see.
Hopefully the Contender will be better and show full fights. It's a Burnett show, and I hate Survivor (though I have to admit I enjoy the Apprentice) but his shows are pretty high quality. Fox just churned this turkey out and slapped Oscar's name on it.
There was a writeup in The Ring not that long ago trashing the boxing reality shows. The big problem is that there are fights going on with results that are "hidden" for months, until the shows actually air. Shifty stuff like that is no good for a sport that already has a bad reputation.

I know my G-d I hated the commentators. The show was real **** I guess they were tryin to show the emotional side of boxing or somethin? I get really turned off when they keep showin these guys crying and stuff because they loose. :D

Before the show started Fox's line was that it was not a boxing show, but a "relationship show". WTF? Were they trying to compete with The Bachelor or something? Basically they aliendated boxing fans with this and they failed to attract an auidence that probably hates boxing for the most part.
I can understand watching the show...I did for a while until it got yanked to FSN, and I'll watch The Conteder as well. I'm sure Oscar's sorry he ever participated in that, though. Let's hope next time he thinks about doing something like that, or, say, putting out another R&B album, his new business partner Hopkins will chime in with some well-placed sarcasm and talk him out of it  .

I watched Next Great whenever I could I missed the last show but heard that Otis won, which IMO is bull**** since he lost and had a draw in the show. The guy with the worst record wins, WTF?
I think the Contender will be a better show because it is produced by Mark Burnett. He is the guy behind Survivor and the Apprentice, the two most successful reality shown on TV. This guy knows the right way to do a reality show unlike they people at fox who put garbage together like the Swan and My Big Fat Fiance.
BTW, I heard Otis from Next Great fought an 8 rounder recently on TV. Does anyone know what happened?

I really hope they show full fights, otherwise the thing just won't work. Is 9 minutes of real boxing too much to ask?

The only ****in' commentators you people like are HBO commentators, get over it already..
Not every commentator is going to be Jim Lampley...

I like the FNF guys, too. Even Showtime's not too bad. The thing is, I doubt these guys were even at the fight. The broadcast didn't have that "live" sound to it. They were probably not realy announcers, either. Just a couple of actors pretending to be announcers saying phoney lines in hammy voices about a fight they probably never even saw.

Boxing is a sensitive sport and has to0 much credentials and history behind it to be flaunted on reality TV like a cheap prime time slot.
I havnt seen an episode, but i bet the boxing wouldnt have been as neat and easy on the eyes as originally thought. A champ isn't made overnight in boxing, esepcially on a reality TV show.
