View Full Version : Tuesday Night Fights tonight
Pac Man Fan 83 07-26-2005, 03:15 PM The main event is a 10 round bantamweight fight between Ivan Hernandez (21-1-1, 13KOs) vs Cesar Morales (15-2, 10KOs). I don't know anything about either one of them but they both have nice records and are ranked fairly high on boxrec (I know, I know, their rankings are ****).
Anyway, does anyone know anything about these two guys? Should this be a good fight?

from what Ive seen of both guys, it should be decent, for BANTAM anyway  The usualy TNF caliber.
trinidadpr87 07-26-2005, 05:17 PM Looks like a decent matchup.Don't forget fnf will be in my hometown the city of champions Brockton. It's going to be outside in a baseball stadium. :) :boxing:
Soundtraveler 07-27-2005, 05:21 AM Damn, that was one hot night of boxing! Over 100 degrees in the ring! I am telling you fight fans - I was sweating like a whore in Church!!! That was why I chose to wear the white tux , black would have been too damn hot! The best fight of the night was an off T.V. bout, in fact, the walk out bout - Donnell Wiggins vs Anthony Greely in a lightheavy matchup that was an absolute war!!
Wiggins got the win, but it was toe to toe action, and nothing but bombs throughout!
The heat really took it out of me, and I just didn't have it tonight, the pipes weren't in top form I am afraid, but I did the best I could do with what I had in the tank at about 110 degrees in a tux - LOL.
I thought the card went well, and the Main Event was all action as I expected - so how did you score the main event? I didn't have it a draw as Teddy did, but I thought the better punches were landed by Choko Hernandez. Plus all the point deductions cost his opponant the fight....
TheFairPole 07-27-2005, 08:51 AM I didn't get to watch the whole thing because I was on my way out the door, but I did see you holding the mic for the ref before the fight started. I told my girlfriend who you were and about you being our celebrity on Boxing Scene. She thought it was pretty cool.

I don't think of myself as a celebrity, but thanks anyway. Choko Hernandez is a great little fighter who took the WBO Title from Mark "2 Sharp" Johnson and then lost it to Montiel, so this was an important win for him. It was his 1st fight since losing the tile.
Anthony Peterson looked great once again and remains unbeaten and well on his way to a title shot at 11-0 with 9 ko's.

Hey Soundtraveler, What did you think of the referee, the guy seemed way to active in there. He wanted to be a much bigger part of the fight then he ever needed to be!
HAd a top notch ref have been in there there may have been a point deduction but certainly not as many as there were, simply put I thought the ref was horrible, what was your take?
As for Choko, he isnt going anywhere, he did not like a lot of those borderline body shots he was taking from Morales and had that of been a top guy he would not have lasted, I didnt think the fight was a draw like Teddy by no means but had their of been no points taken away I dont know how HErnandez could have been the winner?

Well I have to say that I agree about the ref, he doesn't belong in there yet. He used to be an alternate ref and was only used sparingly, while the better, more seasoned refs' like Fred Steinwinder, Elmo Adolph, etc. were called first.
As for Choko, I saw alot of low blows that weren't called, but I think he is a bit soft to the body, however both fighters really threw alot of punches to the body, and keep in mind Choko hadn't been in the ring in a while, so that didn't help either. I do think Choko needs to work on his power if he can...

I dont know...personally, after repeated verbal warnings, there comes a time when you almost have to take a pt. or dq the guy to show him that is your ring and that you mean business. He was told over and over about holding and hitting and hitting low..enough is enough I think. The ref should have given up on the deductions and done something serious about it...I've seen guys dq'ed for less.

Yeah I have seen guys dq'd for less...in Kentucky. Im not saying the kid didnt deserve a point or two but the ref was far to interested in breaking the fighters and being part of the fight instead of letting them fight out of clinches etc.
****, if that ref would have done the Hopkins v. Taylor fight Hopkins would have been thru via point deductions, watch the fight again you will see an overeager referee looking to be just as invloved in the fight as the fighters and that is exactly how things ot not go.

I'll be completely honest, I wasnt into the fights last night like I usually am..I just kept hearing the ref warn him over and over. Every time I did hear that I'd look at the tv and say dq his ass if it's that bad..stop taking his pt's! I hate it when a fighter is having to fight both his opponet and the ref. I've got it taped and will watch again since I'm mainly going by the repeated verbal warnings. :o

I kep screaming at the tv, "get the **** out of there"....watch it again and you will se a very out of shape ref getting way to invloved.
TheFairPole 07-27-2005, 11:27 PM Anybody remember the first Police Academy movie? That ref looked just like the fat cop that was in the camera booth that the thugs threw into the river with the fat cop in it. I just couldn't stop thinking about that guy whenever I saw that ref. :D

I will, probably tonight.
