Which do you prefer to watch and why???
I choose pride, I can't stand Dana White, I can't stand boring fights and alot of fights that go to decisions in UFC with
american vs non american seem kinda one sided when they announce the winner.. I understand what UFC is tryin to do, but I feel it would be a much better event if the decisions were fair and the fighters were world class.. Sure there are a few world class fighter in the UFC but alot of em wouldn't stand a chance in the Pride ring.. Look at Tito from UFC he went to TnA what a joke..

Only thing i dont like at pride is they stop and resume the fight when fighters are beside the edge of the platform. why dont they just let it go and just re-start it when they do fall over. it kinda disrupts the rhythm when they are stopped like that.

UFC is better off in its early days, no rules, now they cant hit a fighter sitting down. and the time, ten minutes a round would be fantastic. :boxing:

I agree with the stricking an opponent to the head (with kicks and knees)on the ground. I feel that takes a lot of strategy and excitement out of the sport.

I believe alot of fights get ruined in the UFC due to cuts from elbows, I luv seein em, it's just a shame they cut a guy so easily.. though the UFC should adopt knees or soccer kicks or somthin.. Why doesnt' a fight org allow all the various strikes.. Excluding the obvious, (eye gouge, groin shot, thumb in cut.. ETC. ETC)

They could stop the amount of cuts if they took out elbows. And if they took that out it would be a good time to add in the knees and kicks. The problem in the UFC right now is that fighters are not trying to finsh a fight or even really beat up their opponent up, there just looking for the easy win, get the guy down cut him with elbows and get the stoppage. Tito Ortiz is a prime example of this. I like both UFC and Pride but do to many reasons Pride is starting to take over the sport and thats a shame for the UFC who started four years earlier and is in the country that is suposed to be the best in sporting entertainment.

I believe UFC's growing failure has alot to do with DanaWhite..
He constantly says the UFC has the best fighters in the world, yet most fighters are american born with the exception of a very few.. They should quit the racism and open up the talent pool IMO
UFC greats cannot compare to Pride greats with obvious reasons, I think alot of fighters are getting fed up with the politics involved in the UFC and that is why so many have left..

I watch both. Pride is like a steak. While UFC is like Hamburger. I like them both! But I prefer steak but I wont grumble if I eat hamburger. In fact I eat Hamburger more than I eat steak but the steak is far better satisfying. Catch my drift?

Honestly, I don't care what MMA organization I'm watching. If it's a good fight, it's a good fight, no matter if it's in Florida or Siberia.

I understand what your tryin to say, but a fightcard doesn't consist of one fight, though the UFC might think that..
Pride always gives a great card, UFC on the other hand will put together 1or2 good fights on each card and that's about it.. Alot of time there main event is a flop as well..
Cotoure vs lidell2, Franklin vs shamrock, arlovski vs eilers started off good but ended with an unfortunate/Surprising injury.
I truly believe the best fight of the year for the UFC was put on by Forrest and Bonnar...

I truly believe it was the best fight in UFC history!

I like the UFC alot but it's what I've watched from the very beginning. Admittedly I don't know much at all about Pride as I've never seen a full card before. Seems like most of the hardcore MMA fans in here prefer Pride and was wondering why. Obviously I've already heard about the caliber of fighter being stronger in Pride and as many of you watch both i won't argue. Is Pride more striking oriented and/or have the better strikers in general?

Still have yet to figure out why some people feel the need to degrade one or the other. A good fight is a good fight. Whether it is boxing, UFC, Pride, K-1... whatever. Would like to see some Pride in the near future though as it seems extremely popular with the regulars here.

UFC is garbage compared to Pride. When the UFC fighters fight in pride they get demolished. Pride is just a much bigger event and they have a larger number of contestants and greater talent. It's true that a good fight is a good fight. But would you rather see a good fight between C level fighters or A level fighters?

Rok_31

Obviously A level fighters but if you've only see C level fighters its all you know. From what's been said it seems like Pride just has a much better talent pool than UFC, esp. at heavy. What UFC fighters do you think would still be formidable in Pride?

I wish Pride would get more hype in the states but i just don't see it happening with the UFC getting on cable.

why would they let it go until they fall out???? i think a fighters safety is a little more important than their rhythm

And thats why you always get these people(north americans, and I'm not being biased im Canadian) claiming UFC has better fighters. Becasue like you said Pride doesnt get any hype. Over here people just think UFC and think it must have the best fighters and be the best organization basically because people have never heard of or seen anything else. Its no ones fault really, before I heard of Pride and watched it I probably would have been the same.

I've watched UFC since the begining, from the bar room brawlers to the yokozuna's to the Royce Gracie vs Ken Shamrock for 45mins.
whatched Frank shamrock tap out Tito,
watched Tito get the decision over Belfort..
Everything I said, everything between and everything after I've seen...
I didn't agree with some decisions especially those that consisted of American vs non american fighters..
IMO UFC is racist against non americans when it comes to the judges decision, most fighter in the UFC are american but why??
Pride takes fighters from all over the world, whether they're new to the sport, old to the sport, it don't matter, Pride always has the best fighters..
Ask any fighter which ring is the toughest to compete in and they will tell you the Pride ring..
Sure UFC has "A FEW" top calibre fighters but that's it..
Pride constantly puts on a better show with more action, more skilled fighters(on the ground or standin up) Rarely do I see the LAYnPRAY..
UFC however has alot of fights stopped due to cuts which come from elbows on the ground..
I like elbows standin up, but when u get Pussy's like ORTIZ in the octagon that only look for the take down and give a barrage of elbows to a downed apponent looken to cut him and end the fight, it really hurts the sport..
ORDER PRIDE ON PPV AUG28/2005 YOU BE THE JUDGE..
