View Full Version : The Federal Election 2010 ??? 08-16-2010, 06:38 PM Only 4 days away now. Who will you be voting for? Philfy 08-16-2010, 08:26 PM Let me preface this by encouraging people to make their vote count. If you're disillusioned with the major parties, don't do a donkey vote. That'd be a waste. Maybe consider voting for some of the smaller groups and independents. In the House of reps, I'll be voting for my local Greens candidate (there's a lot of wackos trying out in my electorate). In the Senate out of the 90 odd candidates, I'll be preferencing Sex party, Secular Party, Hunters and Shooters, Democrats, Greens and independants before anybody else. Labor, Libs/Nats and any Christian style climate skeptics will be last of all. ??? 08-16-2010, 08:35 PM Let me preface this by encouraging people to make their vote count. Philfy 08-16-2010, 09:18 PM I'm still unsure of who to vote for in the election. I'll probably end up voting for Labor or The Greens. My main beef with Labor is with their proposed internet censorship and secret data storage regime. I suspect Stephen Conroy (the Labor Senator who is proposing it) is in the pocket of the Christian Lobby. They postponed the announcement of the censorship thing until next year because they knew it was too hot of an issue. I can't vote for them. The Greens look to be the best out of a bad bunch, though I have very strong reservations about their plans to turn a large proportion of coastal waters into marine Parks. I like fishing and that would suck big time. I don't like Abbott as opposition leader because (in the past) he has allowed his religious views to interfere with policy making. That's a big no-no in a secular country. Dan... 08-16-2010, 09:19 PM Voting Liberal. First time ever I think. Can't remember ever doing it before anyway. Philfy 08-16-2010, 09:31 PM Voting Liberal. That's a big no-no in a secular country. Yeah, I don't agree with the censorship of the internet either, but I'd rather Labor in power over the Liberals. Voting Liberal. First time ever I think. Can't remember ever doing it before anyway. Are you? Every time I imagine Abbott in running the country I get an uneasy feeling. What if he brought back WorkChoices? Dan... 08-16-2010, 10:27 PM Just out of interest, why? Why Liberal this time? I don't want a woman running the country. Why do I not usually vote Liberal? Not sure. Never really liked Howard. I'm not very in-tune politically. To be honest I don't think it makes much of a difference to my life who is running the place, so I really can't be that bothered to investigate who I should bother voting for. Dan... 08-16-2010, 10:27 PM Yeah, I don't agree with the censorship of the internet either, but I'd rather Labor in power over the Liberals. Are you? Every time I imagine Abbott in running the country I get an uneasy feeling. What if he brought back WorkChoices? I couldn't care less to be honest. I'd rather Abbot running the joint than that red-headed mole. Flawless* 08-16-2010, 11:06 PM Voting Green, It is a protest vote against Labour for their ruthless ousting of Rudd. The Muss 08-18-2010, 05:45 AM I'm voting Labor. Internet censorship is complete garbage, but I think they are still the more progressive party. I give them credit for their money management through the GFC and I'm willing to give them another term and see what they can get done in regards to health reforms, national broadband network etc. .. at the end of the day Abbott as PM would be an embarrassment. Stone Roses! 08-20-2010, 04:03 AM Voting Green, It is a protest vote against Labour for their ruthless ousting of Rudd. The Greens support homosexual marriage. **** the Greens Stone Roses! 08-20-2010, 04:08 AM Let me preface this by encouraging people to make their vote count. "I suspect", "I don't like" blah blah blah......Save it you P.O.S. Tell me, joker, why do you hate Christians so much? Aye? What are so wrong with Christian values and morals? Huh? You do realise this country was founded upon Christian principles, aye? Stone Roses! 08-20-2010, 04:08 AM Dan, killed this thread :lol1: :lol1: So I will have to agree with some of the statements he has already made. Stone Roses! 08-20-2010, 04:11 AM I'll tell you what's a "big no no" in MY Country, aye Philfy; pathetic wankers like you who support sodomy and the corrupt morals of this decadent society. Stone Roses! 08-20-2010, 04:13 AM BTW, I'm voting for whomever I feel like at that moment, when I step into the poll booth. Philfy 08-20-2010, 04:22 AM This message is hidden because Stone Roses! is on your ignore list. How nice. ColWallace 08-20-2010, 06:53 AM Why Liberal this time? I don't want a woman running the country. How sad. I honestly thought better of you. Stone Roses! 08-20-2010, 06:58 AM How sad. I honestly thought better of you. Dan's reputation as a poster actually increased a notch in my book with that post. Frankly, your rep has dropped dramatically, you ***** whipped slut. aldiansyah 08-20-2010, 02:11 PM Greens baby, **** internet censorship and surveillance... burning e-books aint moving forward ??? 08-20-2010, 04:29 PM No need for the hate in this thread. Everyone is enititled to their opinion. ??? 08-20-2010, 06:35 PM I just voted a short time ago. In the end I voted for Labor. aldiansyah 08-20-2010, 07:09 PM Just did my good citizen bit too, back to being a parasitic cancer... man i love election day, being part of the democratic process scratches my itch nicely.. there is nothing like the boner you get from numbering those boxes am i right guys? woftam 08-20-2010, 07:30 PM I voted Labour as well in the end. I was going to vote Liberal for the first time until they released their National Broadband Policy. Anyone who knows anything about IT knows they have no idea what they are doing. Didn't vote greens in the senate because I don't agree with same sex marriage. aldiansyah 08-20-2010, 07:42 PM I voted Labour as well in the end. I was going to vote Liberal for the first time until they released their National Broadband Policy. Anyone who knows anything about IT knows they have no idea what they are doing. It blows my mind to hear you say that about the Liberals when Labour is pushing so hard to control what people can access on the internet, and be there to peep over your shoulder when you do; personally I would much rather forego the national broadband network if thats what it takes to retain freedom of information for future generations of Australians, but different strokes I guess... anyone got some good stories from awkward encounters with polling staff yet? I once had a chick who crosses off names there say "have you voted in this erec- i mean, election yet today?" Maybe she looked into the future and saw my previous post ??? 08-20-2010, 07:48 PM It blows my mind to hear you say that about the Liberals when Labour is pushing so hard to control what people can access on the internet, and be there to peep over your shoulder when you do; personally I would much rather forego the national broadband network if thats what it takes to retain freedom of information for future generations of Australians, but different strokes I guess... anyone got some good stories from awkward encounters with polling staff yet? I once had a chick who crosses off names there say "have you voted in this erec- i mean, election yet today?" Maybe she looked into the future and saw my previous post Haha, no, this is my first time voting in a federal election but the lady who ticked off my name had a little trouble pulling off the green voting paper to give to me. Philfy 08-20-2010, 10:27 PM Just did my good citizen bit too, back to being a parasitic cancer... man i love election day, being part of the democratic process scratches my itch nicely.. there is nothing like the boner you get from numbering those boxes am i right guys? Spot on. I felt so smug knowing that I was contributing to the downfall of the candidates whose views conflict with my own. Back into the abyss of political oblivion they go... I was at the polling booth for a while because I lost count of what number I was up to when doing my Senate preferences. I worked backwards to begin, starting with the parties I disagreed with the most. Then I went to my top preferences and did them, then I got lost somewhere in the middle... A satisfying day nonetheless, all in all. aldiansyah 08-20-2010, 11:13 PM What I like to do is take in a list of people I don't like with me, and add extra boxes and names to wield my spiteful spear at and give them super low preferences for the senate. Mundine came in at 90th. He won't be chilling in one of those sweet Upper House seats any time soon... take *that*! ColWallace 08-21-2010, 05:50 AM Dan's reputation as a poster actually increased a notch in my book with that post. Frankly, your rep has dropped dramatically, you ***** whipped slut. I haven't lost all regard for Dan as I think he's probably a fellow I'd get along with no matter what our political views. I was disappointed by his comments, but so be it. Men like us can disagree. As for you, I'm happy I stand low in your opinion. If BS posters were dog****, I'd be scraping you off my shoe. Again and again and again. classicbuzzbox 08-21-2010, 10:16 AM Has anyone ever heard the expression spoken to me as a kid - "never talk politics or religion". I have to laugh, this thread pretty much confirms that as a geniune fact. Sorry to hear the two front runners Corn Wallace and Dan are having a tiff, I'm sure you guys will be ploughing each other fairly soon. ??? 08-21-2010, 03:18 PM Looks like a hung pariliment.
