To me the most impressive number on there is the fact that he finished last in his first event. The fact that he went from completely mediocre to the best in the world says so much about his discipline. It isn't all just natural athletic ability. He really is an amazing individual.

Agreed! that is amazing! total underdog story, he is more impressive then Prefontaine since lance armstrong over came cancer and was only given a 3 percent chance of living and then came back to win back to back tour de frances.

I know of tyler hamilton, he broke his collar bone on the second day of the tour de france last year and he stayed in the race and got 4th overall. Gangsta ****! Then in the olympics he won gold but he was later stripped of it because of a failed drug test. He didnt really fail because there was no stimulants in his system, it was the fact that they could tell he had recieved a complete blood transfusion. Therefore ridding his system of the banned substances.
