It's never too late. Of course you're going to have to work extra harder than other fighters who started early to pick up on lost time, but it's never too late. Don't let anyone tell you that.

I know some guy at my gym who started boxing at 25 and he is going to the Nationals at age 27.. no age matters, some guys started at like age 35 and are good sparring now they have been working at it for a few months.

I always think that i have started too late and i am just 17.

I mean i wished i started before, but dont let that stop you, cos the more you procrastinate, the less chance you have of getting ANYWHERE in the sport.

Its worthless thinking about how you shoulda started 10 years ago or whatever, just get out and do it. You never know, you may have some raw natural talent and end up going to the Beijing Olympics, even though you never had thought of it before.

Anyone know of any champions that started out at 16? Cuz I have had a love for boxing ever since I was 13 but I have played on the provincial soccer taem for 3 years but my real love is boxing and I want to get started into it but my real fear is sucking at it because it appears too late for me.

skipping, running, and abs.
then, repeat.
then switch the order :)
16 is not too young at all....it might be cutting it close if you want to go pro, but that all depends on your time invested in the sport. before hitting a bag...or a speedball, or propping up a dunk for a few rounds. get a trainer, and a set of wraps.

Hopkins started pro at 22 years old and his first fight was a loss, and now he is champion/was/should still be champion! He did though box in jail from the age of 17 and was considered the baddest boxer in the pen for years! There is no too late to start boxing I went amateur at 13 and fought till 18 and took a few years off and went back into it. Now I'm 22 and turned pro it can be done into your twenties just need to be dedicated more than anything to the sport.
