i was watching the best damn show replay from yesterday. when bryd was asked who he wants to fight, he said VK, because in there last fight VK quit right before Byrd was about to Knock Him Out. I never saw that fight, was bryd starting to show some signs of a comeback once VK was hurt? I heard that VK was still handling him with 1 arm

yeah its pretty sad how he said that VK quit and how a fighter should never quit, VK had a serious injury and if he had continued it would of been over for his career, VK was handing his ass

I think VK would have lost the remaining 2-3 rounds of the fight (as far as I remember) but not much else would have happenned. VK had a 6 point lead at the time of the stoppage.

maybe it's just me, but i have never seen Bryd KO anyone. are the KO's on his record ref stoppages because he was throwing alot of punches and they didn't know how weak he really was, or was he a hard hitter back in the day?

I think it was a rational decision for Vitaliy. It was not a championship bout, to say the least, and at the time Byrd really looked liked a cannon fodder opponent, so there was no bonus on the table for risking with the injury.

But I must say I really started to like Byrd after his fight with Vitali. The guy is smart, has a good sense of humor, and has some great heart.

I would like to see the rematch just because VK will be coming out with a vengeance we haven't seen in him yet. This would be personal and VK is so big that it could be very ugly for Byrd. I would predict a mercy-stoppage by the ref in the early rounds of the fight.

The Golota fight was a draw.

Go to the downloads section to MPEGs and see if the Byrd/Vitali highlight link still works. I put nine links up, one per round.

He has never been a hard hitter. All of his KOs (I think) were scored on marginal, unknown opponents.

Chris needs an accumulation of many punches to put someone away.

Chris would be one tough SOB if he could punch (but maybe then his style would be entirely different).

Yeah, he's not a big puncher, which makes the fact that he wobbled McCline all the more embarassing for Jameel.

McCline said he was off-balance (as a huge 270 pound man coud be after fighting for 10 rounds of a championship bout).
