My friend has it, it's pretty simple, for $20 a month you can rent as many dvds as you want. You just go online, make a list of movies, they send you 3 at a time. Watch them, send them back, and then they send you the next ones on your list....

Netflix is awesome. It quicker than blockbuster. Its $19 with tax and you get 3 movies at a time. If you go through 3 movies a week, its only $1.60 a movie....better than $4.50 at the video store. You can keep two and send one back, they will then replace the one you sent back with a new one. In other words, you always have a fresh movie on hand to watch. Postage is already paid, it comes straight to your house, selection is HUGE (way more than a video store) and best of all is that there are independant ratings from all the users (everyday people). For example if a movie is 5 out of 5 stars, there is a better chance you'll enjoy it then picking some movie with a cool cover in the video store since all the new releases are taken. I can't say enough about it. Great service. I just hope it doesn't get too popular and wipes out blockbuster. The competition is what is keeping the pricing at bargain prices right now.

I had this service on several occasions. If you have the time to watch movies and don't like going to the video store, this is for you. On the plus side, you can get some obscure and/or foreign movies that probably are not available at local video chains. Of course, there is a minus side. For new releases (or other movies for that matter), you sometimes end up having to wait. By doing that, you find yourself renting things that you wouldn't have otherwise rented in the first place to fill in the gaps. When I first got this service, the distribution center was in California (I am on the east coast) and the delivery time was a few days. Now, they have more distribution centers so you any place in the US should have a delivery time of about a day.

Netflix is awesome, the fastest shipping and the best overall selection. None of the videostores in my area carry the stuff I like (Fasbinder, Bergman, Chabrol, Bresson, Kar-wai Wong, Ozo and so on...)

Blockbuster online is okay, but the shipping times can be erratic, and the envelopes they ship the discs in, are kind of brittle and sometimes show up in my mailbox, split open with the disc missing.

I also like Nicheflix which is geared towards multi-region import titles, that Netflix and Blockbuster don't carry.

Greencine is okay for people who are heavily into anime, but despite the amount of bragging they do, about having so many obscure titles, it seems like 90% of the stuff they claim have is never ****ing available.
