The Muss

There had been a lot of reports about Paul struggling through sparring and training, but these quotes that I read from sportsnewsfirst.com paint a pretty scary picture.
After an investigation was launched into the legitimacy of the bout, and bookmakers continued to voice their concerns after a massive plunge on a first round knockout, reports emerged of Briggs’ alarming preparation to the Perth event.
The challenger reportedly could not remember which gymnasium he was training, mistook strangers' cars for his own, and vomited in sparring after one body shot.
Interesting to see how well Hussein and the team there escape the fallout. They really have a duty of care and I would have expected Billy to pull the pin before being involved with cornering someone in that kind of shape.
Danny's trying to point the spot light at them, which is only natural.

It's only been 2 days, people are still upset and haven't quite settled down yet. The serious questions are starting to be asked though, as they should. I'm sure Billy Hussein will soon cop his fair share of criticism.
My guess is that Briggs was going to take the fight regardless. Maybe Hussein even tried to talk him out of it, but Paul wasn't prepared to give up such a huge pay day. Was it better for Hussein to be there, or to Briggs to fight alone? Would Briggs have even fought alone?
It's obvious now why Fenech walked away.

I'd be very interested to hear from the guy who was training Briggs when he made an attempt at a comeback a while ago. (Was it Justin Footit?)
IIRC, the pin was pulled on that attempt when they realised Briggs wasn't reacting in sparring.
I think Billy is one of the good guys, and his involvement most probably was in Paul's best interests.
Interesting to see Paul Flemming comment on Briggs's facebook page that people in the boxing community 'know what really happened'.
I want to know!

I believe it was Footit.
Circa 2008:
Paul has officially retired from professional boxing from today! its been about 3-4 weeks since paul and i started training with majority of the work being conditioning and just this week we begain sparring. Over the last 2 weeks ive had subconcious thoughts about paul in training that he's not responding how i think he should be which was confirmed this week in sparring.
There were rumours as to Pauls health problem regarding his nervous system and i can verify that there is a problem there as ive seen it with my own eyes! it's something most of us cant understand as it hasnt happened to us it affects his overall body mechanics to where he's so filled nervous tension that his body cant respond eg being able to see things and react to it.
After seeing this today i had no hesitation in telling Paul to call it a day as he also knew it was anyway!
Paul gave it one last shot and was dead serious which could have been fatal as we've seen in to many cases over the years, its now Pauls turn to sit back without any doubts in his mind and bask in the glory of a fabulous care
er and be healthy and excited about the new chapter in he's life.
I'll be back
