Good read - Thanks.
I hope we hear from Paul soon about what happened & why.
He did himself no favours last night, but I will always remember the warrior that went toe to toe with Adamek in two brutal wars.

Cheers guys. Appreciated. Lots of talk about unprecedented betting plunges on a first round knockout.

Investigation to follow?

Any word on the magnitude of those bets?

Any word on the magnitude of those bets?

I've heard one was upwards of 50k.

"I've gotta cop this, wear whatever comes my way. I've gotta wear some stuff that other people should be wearing too. It's cool. I'll deal with it." - Danny Green.

What I've heard was that there were a number of bets in the tens of thousands, which were being bumped up again and again through the day and all on a first round knockout.

With the plunge I think Green was paying $1.08 to win by knockout.

"I hit Paul with a straight left which we practice probably a thousand times in training. Paul Briggs was hit on the soft part of the skull at the top of the head.”

Green who spent the press conference waving a DVD of the footage around, discussed what he saw on a slow motion replay and seemed to want to protect the image of boxing.

"I have viewed the vision this morning and slowed the footage down to an incredibly slow speed and I’m actually happy I did that, because when you slow it down you can see the blow that lands.

"To the naked eye it seems that he hasn’t been felled, but this actually proves that he has been felled by a legitimate blow to the head and actually a brain-stem injury has occurred where his head has gone that way, he has gone in, I’ve gone bang and he’s legitimately hurt.

"I don’t regret saying what I said, when you’re prepared for twelve rounds of war and you go in there putting your life on the line for the fans and the passionate fans of Australia, when you put your life on the line in the ring, which I do, it’s disappointing and very frustrating

"Looking at the footage now Paul Briggs would have reacted the same way if he was in my shoes."

Personally I'm starting to worry about Danny's health now. Does he really expect us to buy this garbage?

I was following the betting odds pretty closely for this bout over the past few weeks. Green entered the market last month at $1.15 for the win. It sat like that for a while until about 3 days before the fight when it started to come in even more.

Three days ago, Green by KO rounds 1-4 was only $4, then shortened to evens and finally betting suspended. By fight time, Green was $1.08 to win by KO-pretty much a certainty.

I haven't made up my mind yet about whether the fix was totally in, but I mean really, none of us expected Briggs to last long. Either there's a lot of very astute punters out there, or something dodgy was happening.

I took the fight 'not to go the distance' at $1.25 a week ago on Betfair. My best win was a multi on Garlett x Niemann to win @$2.00.

Strange stuff.

Reminds me of all the bets plunged on Melbourne to get the wooden spoon. Somebody knew something.
