It sure isnt the "styles" anymore. Sure you have "heart". But "heart" doesnt win you championships.

You have Wanderlei Silva, who is Chute Boxe who dominated his weight class but fought against Hunt and lost.

You have BJ Penn, who is arguably the P4P best fighter, lose to Lyoto Machida.

Both losers are well versed in standing, grappling and submissions. IMO both are better in skills than their opponents.

Both are or were champions in their weight class.

Silva is a more rounded fighter but is not as good of a striker as Hunt, same goes for Penn Lyoto. Randy Couture is a far superior fighter than Chuck Liddell, but still lost to him. I think it takes a mixture of all three to make a great fighter, if you are big and strong, but have no technique you will probably lose, look at Bob Sapp. But if you have great technique and no strength, you could also get your ass beat like Nino Schimbri. So I believe all three are needed to be successful....

Hmmmm...

I don't think it's simple to answer this one..
Because different things work better against different things... does that make sense

One thing may have an advantage say strength over weight, but not against something else.. like technique....

I posted pretty much the same thing in Sherdog. So far in the last 30 minutes, only two posters made sense like both of you. The others are probably trying to build their post counts! One telling me to get out of my little universe to another talking about dick size being the factor. It is funny. But I wanted to see how many people thought like you folks. (Kaps and jrs)
