I think overall Morales has beaten stiffer competition, Barrera is one of my favorite boxers, but despite winning 2 out of 3 against Erik, Morales is better IMO

Barrera is the better of the two Pound for Pound.

I have Barrera ahead by just a hair. If MAB didn't get beat as bad as he did against Pacman we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Morales.

I think Morales won the first fight 114-113 (lot of close rounds, but Morales' volume punching outdid Barrera's power punching from my point of view!)

Morales got robbed in the 2nd fight and everybody knows it. I had him winning 116-112 in a fight that had no close rounds. All rounds were very obvious to me who won, and Morales got dicked over to have a trilogy. Complete bull****. Why didn't the judges screw Mayweather over when he beat Castillo up in their 2nd fight? Cuz no $$$ was in that trilogy. Boxing is cruel at times.

Barrera definitely won the third fight 115-113 on my card, and I couldn't even consider a card that had Morales winning that one. A draw might be acceptable, but I felt Barrera got what he deserved.

However, Morales has beat better competition and just barely let Barrera get the better of him. Some fighters have other fighters' numbers, but I don't think that applies here. I think Morales is a better, smarter fighter with a lot more to offer to the sport, but fighting Barrera's fight almost cost him in their first fight and definitely cost him in the third fight.

Plus, Morales beat up on two guys that beat Barrera, one of whom beat Barrera TWICE.

eaxactly when your comparing 2 fighters against each other 2-1 is all that matters between these two greats.

Actually its not. Morales has done more with his career than has Barrera and I could pretty much prove that...or I could try.

Go for it my man. I'm always up for getting a boxing lesson. Don't really know too much about El Terrible.

I think I already proved it with my post, but nobody wanted to hear that

36-0 at 122. Has fought and beaten better competition.

Fights top notch comp all of the time and never avoids a big fight.

Has only ever lost to Barrera, both times were close, and their second fight was very controversial.

He's never been knocked down and has one of the best chins ever seen at lighter weights.

Barrera has been dominated and KOed on more than one occasion...Morales hasn't. Jones and Pacquiao have both owned Barrera.

Erik is a more versatile fighter. He can take the lead and box using his range, he can sit back and counter punch beautifully, or he can go to war whenever he feels like it.

He could potentially be the first Mexican 4 class world champ at lighter weights. He is ambitious and it seems like everyone else is chasing him up the ranks.

He is fearless and NEVER puts on a bad show....he has a heart the size of Mexico.

This^^^ was my response to a similar question in another thread. I think Morales has more left in the tank than does Barrera and is much more ambitious. When all is said and done Morales will have the better legacy. As it is hes probably one of the 3 greatest 122 pounders ever. Morales can box/brawl/counterpunch/younameit and that is what will help him succeed at higher weights with more dangerous punchers. I don't see Barrera even having a chance against a fighter like Juan Lazcano, Julio Diaz, Acelino Freitas, Castillo or Corrales. If you look at both guys last 5 fights you'll see a pretty sizeable difference there too. Morales has been fighting nothing but champs day in day out.

El Terrible..despite him being 1-2 again MAB..could easily be the other way around..besides..Morales' body of work is FAR more impressive than MAB..thats just plain simple. Morales..has never been knocked down..much less dominated and ko'd like Barrera has.
