View Full Version : Nathan Cleverley making all the right noises..
Love to see him mentioning names like Dawson and Cloud in this article.
Was also VERY suprised to read his old man mention the Heavyweight division, surely he doesn't have the frame for that??

shame frank won't let him fight either Dawson or Cloud.
boxasmash 07-10-2010, 08:48 AM See how he handles Murat, he is no joke!

steeluv 07-10-2010, 09:34 AM lets hope he makes the step up im not convinced he can beat Dawson at the moment but who knows when he makes some fights with better opponents he might have a chance

He should have a couple more fights before fighting them he should fight cloud first I think then if he beats him, he will need to step up his defence if he wants to beat Dawson, he got the speed but need the defence and skills.
hookoutofhell 07-11-2010, 08:43 AM nathans a very good fighter his technique, accuracy and skills have come on since the last few years. his chin and commitment cann't be doubted.
i think warren could maybe move cleverly along a little bit quicker now that hes finished his degree.
as for the comments about natahn at HW well its unlikely but it may prove a possibility. nathan is a very big man at LHW, he has the physical structure to put on 10-15lbs. i think he will be a CW fighter within a few years after that we will see if he can still make the move up to HW.
Chunk. 07-11-2010, 12:02 PM I don't see him beating any of the title hoders at 175. Today, or down the line.
alza1988 07-11-2010, 01:06 PM Hopefully he makes his American debut early .That's what the fans want man .The WBO isn't that good man .It's best to unify and fight the best in the division , war Cleverly man .Look how well he's doing man and a year or 2 ago how good a prospect Appelby was as well man .Appelby needs to get active man , waste .He's fighting on the 4th September anyway .Looking forward to Brook Jennigs as well .

The_Demon 07-11-2010, 05:46 PM As long as warren doesnt baby him too much then he can go a very long way

What, even shumanov???
Chunk. 07-11-2010, 09:17 PM What, even shumanov???
IBO > WBA.
But you're right, he would beat Shumenov. I reckon Warren will take him down the WBO route and hopefully pitch him up against Braehmer. A fight i don't think he would win IMO but if he did? Warren would probably make him defend it for 9 or so years before unifying like he did with Calzaghe.
That's why i don't take much notice of these young guns saying they want to take on the divisions best because as long as Cleverley's sat on Frank Warren's lap, he'll have **** all say on who he fights.

I think he should fight Shumanov right away, the guy is a known fraud, and Clev could beat him, then take 2 tough but winnable fights at the millenium, before maybe a fight against Glen Johnson, then on to cloud or dawson, thats how i'd do it

Just hope he can come through Murat alright. It's gonna be a tough fight.

yes its certainly a potential bannana skin that one, good on both of them for taking it
Dem Eyes 07-12-2010, 05:12 PM I want to see him against Murat, I'm not convinced at the moment.
He's looked good at times, but his defense and power aren't great. However, he's started to get more power and hopefully he's got enough for world level.
SimonTemplar 07-13-2010, 12:03 PM I'm just amazed how his power seems to have come on. Most guys start out knocking people over, then it gets harder through their career. Cleverly seems to be the opposite, which bodes well for the future. I see him as a decent Cruiserweight, agree with the posters who think he's a bit small for Heavyweight, though.
