View Full Version : Taylor vs Hopkins Preview. Manny_P 07-09-2005, 09:56 PM Jest seen it, and IMO, Taylor will punish Hopkins. Taylor = New Middleweight King! jack_the_rippuh 07-09-2005, 10:00 PM Hopkins = Unpunishable at any age. awdsawds 07-09-2005, 10:05 PM I feel the same way but something that lurks in the back of my mind is the margarito vs cintron fight which showed that experience can outwit speed and power. experience that Hopkins has plenty of jack_the_rippuh 07-09-2005, 10:15 PM Fisher: "TAKE 'EM TO SCHOOL! POP THE JAB! POP THAT JAB, BABY! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH WHAT'D I TELL YA!? WHAT'D I TELL YA!? EASY FIGHT! EASY FIGHT! -Nova- 07-09-2005, 10:19 PM Its gonna be a brawl, and if Taylor wins it, He won't come no where close to reigning as long as Hopkins did. Manny_P 07-09-2005, 10:42 PM and anotha thing. Taylor has the BEST jab, betta than Sturm, Winky or B-Hop cuz the man actually drops doos wit it. Taylor will take Hopkins to a UD cuz he might be too nice to punish and KO a 40 yr old man! simeraksou 07-09-2005, 10:44 PM and anotha thing. Taylor has the BEST jab, betta than Sturm, Winky or B-Hop cuz the man actually drops doos wit it. Taylor will take Hopkins to a UD cuz he might be too nice to punish and KO a 40 yr old man! taylor has a good jab offensively but he leaves himself wide open on the right side almost every time he throws the jab. I also have suspicions of taylor's chin... jack_the_rippuh 07-09-2005, 10:45 PM His jab is probably the strongest, but doesn't mean it's better. Nautilus 07-09-2005, 10:47 PM I hope Taylor beats Hopkins, just because Taylor is a favorite fighter. I hope the very opportunity to fight Hopkins would mobilize Taylor and give him better vision and more power to win the fight. oldgringo 07-09-2005, 10:51 PM I love the people that say Hopkins has never been in with a real middleweight. The undeniable truth is that it's actually TAYLOR who hasn't been in with a real middleweight threat. Honestly he hasn't beaten anyone worth a damn. Joppy didn't want to fight, Eduoard wasn't much of a prospect, Marquez was an old jr middle looking for a payday. This fight is going to be a big chessmatch and Hopkins is the Gary Kasparov of chess mudda****as. Manny_P 07-09-2005, 10:53 PM His jab is probably the strongest, but doesn't mean it's better. ya got me. But even still, the power and the speed of Taylor will make the BIG difference in tis fight. Once, Taylor feels Hopkins can't hurt him (about 3 rounds o sum shyt), it's DONE! Taylor will be constantly on Hopkins' ass and Hopkins will be too slow to counta back or hurt him to make a difference. side note: Hopkins' last tough fight was wit that PR doo Tito. Tito might have been ta best at that time, but lets face it, Taylor is a betta all around fighta than Tito. Hopkins was hella younga back then.Hop's last 4 fights have been all easily predicted by UD. Taylor aint a welterweight mova to the higha weight. And last thing, the Fight Night 2 cova. nyahahahaha. All seriousness aside, Hopkins will KTFO Tayler late! Manny_P 07-09-2005, 10:56 PM I love the people that say Hopkins has never been in with a real middleweight. Joppy didn't want to fight, Eduoard wasn't much of a prospect, Marquez was an old jr middle looking for a payday. This fight is going to be a big chessmatch and Hopkins is the Gary Kasparov of chess mudda****as. Taylor aint Tito, Taylor aint Allen, Taylor aint Joppy, Taylor aint de la hoya, Taylor aint Eastman. Unless it was a Mayweatha skills or tactics (and SPEED) fightin in there, I might say Taylor would lose, but it aint. Taylor by UD! AintGottaClue 07-09-2005, 10:58 PM taylor doesnt even deserve this shot at hopkins Parodius 07-09-2005, 10:58 PM taylor has a good jab offensively but he leaves himself wide open on the right side almost every time he throws the jab. I also have suspicions of taylor's chin...Don't worry, I don't think his chin is as bad as Roy Jones. Taylor actually said in an old interview, I was born with a good chin, this was like 3 or 4 years ago. Parodius 07-09-2005, 11:00 PM taylor doesnt even deserve this shot at hopkinsI guess Sturm deserves a shot for the title??? RipTheJacker 07-09-2005, 11:08 PM I can't believe people comparing Taylor to Tito. Tito was a legend, who has Taylor beat??. Does he have heart?? What's he gone do when the tide comes in and he realizes the water is deep?? Solo322 07-09-2005, 11:08 PM I guess Sturm deserves a shot for the title??? more than de la hoya, but that's a separate argument :) what is taylor talking about when he says his chin is good? I don't care about what he thinks about his chin. as a young fighter, it's never been really tested. Still, i don't think that's the determining factor. Hopkins is too old to KO taylor. I think hopkins will break down taylor's will in some way, shoving, low blows, frustrate the kid with philadelphia tricks and win. Manny_P 07-09-2005, 11:11 PM I can't believe people comparing Taylor to Tito. Tito was a legend, who has Taylor beat??. Does he have heart?? What's he gone do when the tide comes in and he realizes the water is deep?? huh? I said Tayler can BOX betta than Tito! He got sum good powa too. I aint comparin their achievements and shyt! Manny_P 07-09-2005, 11:13 PM more than de la hoya, but that's a separate argument :) what is taylor talking about when he says his chin is good? I think hopkins will break down taylor's will in some way, shoving, low blows, frustrate the kid with philadelphia tricks and win. Man, I can't believe throwin lowblows, shovin and dirty cheat tricks are now big factors in deciding outcomes of fights. I see Tayler breakin Hopkins' face is wut I see. So please stop *****ing about Strum winning the fight. Taylor was asked in the interview about taking a good punch, Taylor is not a bragger. Taylor will beat Strum in his sleep. I actually respected Hopkins a long time ago, I'm not one of the new Hopkins fans. I like Hopkins, but I'm also a huge Taylor fan. I just think Taylor will use his Jab & power, also if he hurts Hopkins he is a great finisher. Taylor also is a great boxer, he can box & move with best of them. I've seen many Taylor fights & I know what I'm talking about. oldgringo 07-09-2005, 11:18 PM Taylor aint Tito, Taylor aint Allen, Taylor aint Joppy, Taylor aint de la hoya, Taylor aint Eastman. Unless it was a Mayweatha skills or tactics (and SPEED) fightin in there, I might say Taylor would lose, but it aint. Taylor by UD! Mayweather would be fortunate if he knew half of the tricks that Hopkins knows. Hopkins is THE most crafty and well schooled fighter in the biz right now other than James Toney. Hopkins would be retired by now if he wasn't such a smart and tactical fighter. Taylor is fighting a master schemer and for you to suggest otherwise is ridiculous. Taylor is fighting a master schemer and for you to suggest otherwise is ridiculous. Hopkins woulda been retired if he actually fought TOUGH in a good order, oppositions. Ye know, guys that aren't litteler. side note: tis sux. Jest when the Middleweight division is gettin betta wit Winky, Tayler, Sturm, Ouma etc etc, Hop has to go out. LOL. How I wish Hopkins was at his prime right now. MetalVomit 07-10-2005, 12:57 AM and anotha thing. Taylor has the BEST jab, betta than Sturm, Winky or B-Hop cuz the man actually drops doos wit it. Taylor will take Hopkins to a UD cuz he might be too nice to punish and KO a 40 yr old man! Taylor has a firm jab, but he does leave himself open. Sturm's jab is the best in the division, he pops that **** lightning fast and protects himself immediately after. Memorex 07-10-2005, 01:15 AM i just hope hopkins doesnt get old overnight Gio 07-10-2005, 02:51 AM I think Hopkins will handle taylor like a little pup. `STEELHEAD 07-10-2005, 02:54 AM I love the people that say Hopkins has never been in with a real middleweight. This fight is going to be a big chessmatch and Hopkins is the Gary Kasparov of chess mudda****as. i think there's a chance that the old master intimidates or psychs taylor out. but if hopkins looks old like he did against eastman taylor can do it. yes taylor hasnt beaten anyone realy good. but i think taylor would beat hopkins eastman, and little dlh&tito Zab Super Judah 07-10-2005, 03:54 AM taylor has a good jab offensively but he leaves himself wide open on the right side almost every time he throws the jab. I also have suspicions of taylor's chin... i think hopkins gonna throw right hands over the lazy jab all day mosley 07-10-2005, 07:42 AM I think Taylor hasn't the experiance or been tested yet and he will find himself out of his depth with Hopkins. He over committs on his punches, drops his jab and although he does have power and is a big middleweight that hasn't helped other big punchers down through the ages when faced with an experianced seasoned champion and lets not forget Hopkins can bang too. I see Hopkins nailing Taylor with his right over Taylors jab and outboxing him. Taylor has a punchers chance but I favour Hopkins by at least a UD decision and quite possibly a stoppage. Manny_P 07-10-2005, 02:19 PM lots of people here said Hatton was untested. Guess wut? Tszyu looked out of his prime, or eitha no one knew that Hatton would be the next 140 lbs king and punish Tszyu. same thing here. Jest cuz Tayler hasn't faced a real OPPONENT, aside from a shot Joppy, dont mean he dont have a chance to beat BHop. side note: you'll see a Tayler UD. jack_the_rippuh 07-10-2005, 02:27 PM I just received a word from the Lord your God. Hopkins will win via TKO after giving Taylor the worse beating of his life for 8 rounds.. Truth 07-10-2005, 02:37 PM Jest seen it, and IMO, Taylor will punish Hopkins. Taylor = New Middleweight King! Look for Bernard to be doing most of the punishing on July 16th. :) Zab Super Judah 07-10-2005, 04:21 PM this fight I trully see it as a pickem but I gotta go with the vet B-hop Manny_P 07-10-2005, 04:24 PM this fight I trully see it as a pickem but I gotta go with the vet B-hop ey doo, while yo at it, start that shyt thread where you post who you rootin fo and who you think would win..
