View Full Version : Hatton to beat everyone in the light welterweight division
The Wire 07-09-2005, 11:09 AM Ricky Hatton will beat every light welterweight out there. Everyone is creaming themselves over Mayweather's fantastic performance against Gatti and saying that Hatton wouldnt stand a chance. Is it just me, or has Hatton just beaten Kostya Tszyu? Hands up who picked that one. Hatton would swarm all over Mayweather, and make him tuck up on the ropes all night. Hatton's work rate would win him the fight on points.

Hatton's work rate wasnt what beat Tszyu, but everyone's already discussed that. If Hatton is going to be everyone at 140, he's going to have to get them to go to Manchester. He will not be able to get away with his rough housing bull**** anywhere else. Maybe I'm wrong, but that was about the most impressive thing I saw in his fight with KT.

You need to stay off the crack and stop riding Hatton's nutsack. A win over a faded Tszyu and all of a sudden he's big **** now. Don't let that go to your head. It would be a great fight though, but it's too bad Warren's not gonna make it happen. Later newbie.
TheEvilSaint 07-09-2005, 11:33 AM i know hatton has what it takes to beat anyone at 140 today. i think its just a question not "if" he can do it, but "will" he do it? sorta like andrew golota: he has the tools, lets see what he does with them. (unlike golota, hatton's young and still has a chance).
elveiel 07-09-2005, 11:33 AM I think Hatton probably could beat anyone else at light welter, including Mayweather. I've said it for years now, styles makes fights and Hatton style is a very difficult style to beat. I'd give Mayweather a far better chance than anyone else but i've still got Hatton to win.
I'll back it up too, regardless of who Hatton fights(at any weight) i'll bet on him, so just remember i'm looking for big bets when you want to bet against him.
Diablo 07-09-2005, 11:43 AM Mayweather UD(outside England)
Hatton SD(In Manchester)
ejk22 07-09-2005, 11:43 AM Mayweather is just too fast for Hatton. Hatton would be dealt the same fate that Gatti was.

gatti is nowhere near as busy or aggressive as hatton. gatti just stood in front of mayweather. hatton wont stand, he'll charge. and as tough as he is, he'll get to mayweather and work him over against the ropes. mayweather has a chance to beat him, but its only a chance.

Mayweather wont ever leave his country so i guess your picking him to win.
ejk22 07-09-2005, 11:56 AM If Hatton charges Mayweather that would play right into Mayweathers fight plan. Mayweather would dominate him with speed the entire fight.
Parodius 07-09-2005, 11:57 AM I think most Hatton's fans are crackheads. They just don't make any sense. Have any of you Hatton fans have ever seen Mayweather on the ropes, he is more dangerous on the ropes, he becomes like James Toney, but faster! He will counter punch Hatton to death if Hatton tries to push him on the ropes. Mayweather will TKO Hatton if they fight in Manchester or in America. It won't make a difference. You can bring Dave Parris & your home judges, the results will be the same.
ejk22 07-09-2005, 11:58 AM I noticed Hatton was talking smack about Mayweather prior to the Gatti fight but after he saw that performance he kind of took a step back.

mayweathers fast but hatton's not slow enough for mayweathers speed to be the only deciding factor. mayweather would have to counter hatton like mad. and thats not easy to do when hattons got his head attached to ur chest while hes pounding ur body.

ejk22 07-09-2005, 12:08 PM Personally, I can't stand Mayweather, he is one of my top five most hated boxers, but at the same time I appreciate talent and do not allow myself to talk smack about a boxer only because I hate them. Bottom line is the guy is one of the best boxers to come around in quite sometime.

i feel the same way. i hate mayweathers mouth but i like his talent.
now, do u think hatton can beat mayweather.
IwatchBoxing 07-09-2005, 12:13 PM Hatton maybe has a chance against Mayweather, but I think he'd be tailor made for Cotto, Hatton thinks Cotto is thrown off by pressure, but without a great defense, like Abbie had (covering his face/body 80% of the fight), he would be picked off on the outside coming in.

Hey Iwatch, in your sig, it says Taylor beat Chavez, which Taylor are you talking about?
paul750 07-09-2005, 12:47 PM guys what is all this **** about tszyu being faded? tsyzu said he was in the best shape of his life going into the fight with hatton.
Tha Greatest 07-09-2005, 12:52 PM What the hell is up with all these
HATTON WILL BEAT EVERYON threads
MetalVomit 07-09-2005, 12:54 PM guys what is all this **** about tszyu being faded? tsyzu said he was in the best shape of his life going into the fight with hatton.
Tszyu didnt look faded at all. If it wouldnt have been a WWE match, it would have been a different fight. KT looked good, not faded one bit.

Sure, he will charge and eat **** LOADS of leather while doing so. Will Hatton's hemophilic face hold up to the onslaught of bombs coming his way?
DiegoFuego 07-09-2005, 01:45 PM If Hatton can smother as effectively as he did against Tszyu, then I think he'll beat Mayweather in a close one.
But for the record, Hatton did nothing illegal in Manchester other than that horrendous low blow (although Tszyu had it coming), so I really don't know what all the *****ing is over. I'm American, but I admit that Hatton fought the perfect fight and got a cagey veteran to throw in the towel. You can't knock Hatton's performance against Tszyu, it was the perfect fight.

what do you mean a WWE match? I didn't see any elbow drops or body slams
Slipx 07-09-2005, 01:50 PM what do you mean a WWE match? I didn't see any elbow drops or body slams
spinning someone around and hitting em behind the head isnt exactly orthodox boxing.
DiegoFuego 07-09-2005, 02:17 PM cry me a river
every fighter gets hit behind the head every fight
deal with it

Thats how I feel. Hatton is too hitable and Mayweather is too hard to hit. Boxing can be real simple.

Have you watched Hatton, for a pressure fighter he never takes shots.
Saying Hatton is hitable and Mayweather is too hard to hit doesnt prove anything, i could just Hatton's too strong and punches too hard and Mayweather is too weak and cant punch hard enough.
ejk22 07-09-2005, 04:15 PM The only fighter at 140 that I "thought" had a chance to beat Mayweather strictly because they had great handspeed was Vivian Harris. Now I don't think so after seeing his vulnerability in his last match. Cotto would get ko'd by Mayweather and Hatton would suffer a tko from too much punishment.
TheGreat1 07-09-2005, 04:29 PM Hey Iwatch, in your sig, it says Taylor beat Chavez, which Taylor are you talking about?
i like how people still argue that Taylor beat chavez. People act like it was a bad decision, when the truth is he got KO'd, how can you argue a KO? If you can be KO'd 10sec in the 1st round, then u can be ko'd with 10 sec left in the last round. If you don't beat the count, or are unable to respond to the judge, then the fight is over.

From what I have seen of both fighters I dont see much difference in power. Hatton lands harder to the body but Mayweather lands punches people dont see. To me thats tit for tat. Hatton does take shots. Vs Tszyu he smothered Tszyu's power. Tszyu landed plenty punches off of his back foot. Tszyus loses power when he is going backwards. There were a couple times Hatton took two flush punches coming in on Tszyu but since Tszyu was crowded and he did not get full extension they did not have big power behinde them. That was a good strategy vs Tszyu but that wont work vs Mayweather. Giving Mayweather a punch or two just to get inside wont work because Mayweather can just scoot away. Its not like Hatton is versatil. Thats what he is going to do and it wont work. Mayweather could move and pot shot all night and since Hatton does not have one punch power Mayweather could periodically go on the attack himself just to win rounds more convincingly.

i have to agree with you. mayweather is more moble and has a better defence then tszyu.

;) He sure does. Mayweather is a defensive master. Fighting backwards is nothing to him. He will land so many counters on Hatton, that he wont know what to do.
Hatton seems like a one dimensional fighter, Mayweather is far from that and he WILL expose Hatton as that.
DiegoFuego 07-10-2005, 03:03 AM Chavez definitely earned that knockout
Parodius 07-10-2005, 03:27 AM Have you watched Hatton, for a pressure fighter he never takes shots.
Saying Hatton is hitable and Mayweather is too hard to hit doesnt prove anything, i could just Hatton's too strong and punches too hard and Mayweather is too weak and cant punch hard enough.Hatton don't hit too hard. Chico & Pacman is the hardest hitters from the smaller guys, also Cotto, Zab & Tszyu hits harder then Hatton. Mayweather & Hatton have the same kind of KO ratio. Again you are overrating your boy Hatton. Like I said Mayweather will beat Hatton anywhere, I hope he goes to Manchester & teaches Hatton a lesson. Hatton can also bring his homeboy REf Dave Parris with him.

What have you been smoking, didn't you also say that Chavez earned that knockout. I can't believe we both like Chico, you sure you're a Chico fan.
SHANE, (from england) 07-10-2005, 07:45 AM Hatton has got heart, desire to win, power, endurance, youth, stamina, speed and can take a punch he will be the best for the foreseable future.
jcarlie 07-10-2005, 08:24 AM I think this opinion that kostya was "over the hill" is just crap.Look how he destroyed mitchell in his fight before hatton.I also thimk people on here are exagerating the performance of mayweather against an awful gatti, who was static, flatfooted and as for his defence...That isnt to say i think hatton would beat mayweather, its too close to call,i just hope it happens if not to stopo all the hatton mayweather slanging match!
uncle_rico 07-10-2005, 08:57 AM i think it would be a much better fight than mayweather gatti,
but if floyd can move and counter the way he wants, it
will be 12 rounds of hatton gettin beat up.
OTOH, if hatton can stop floyd from gettin off by stayin in his chest,
and actually keep his hands up when floyd throws (unlike gatti)
and work the body, there could be a major upset.
it would be a great fight to watch if each round hatton
and floyd took turns doing what they do best; you'd see
floyd's incredible speed, skill, and (underrated?) power.
And you'd see hatton's relentlessness.
my gut feeling tho tells me floyd is just too good.
i can see this guy cleaning up 140 and 147 (i'm from bk, so, i'd hate
to see zab lose, so, maybe floyd loses to zab ;)
i think a confident mosley can prolly beat anyone under 154, but,
has he lost all his confidence? he coula/shoulda knocked out
estrada, why's he holding back?
but i digress..
interestingly enough, i think tzyou would do better against
floyd than hatton would.
tzyou has seen and dealt with that kind of speed before,
so, i think that'd be a more competetive (and potentially a little boring?)
fight.
in anycase, i like both guys, i love to see 2 completely different styles at the same weight, keeps things interesting and makes for the best fights.

Where did Chico and Manny Pac come into it?? Hatton's a bigger puncher than Mayweather, surely you cant be bias enough to say otherwise??
My reply was just pointing out that having one advantage over an opponent doesnt mean that they will win.
I dont understand this hometown, hometown ref bull****. Hatton vs Tszyu was a totally fair contest, there was a couple of times when both fighters got rough but its a mans sport so who cares. UK or US, i've got Hatton to beat Mayweather by stoppage.
DiegoFuego 07-10-2005, 12:38 PM who says Hatton's a bigger puncher than Mayweather? there's no common opponents between them to make that kind of claim
elveiel 07-10-2005, 01:49 PM who says Hatton's a bigger puncher than Mayweather? there's no common opponents between them to make that kind of claim
You dont need a common foe to say Tua's a bigger puncher than Hatton but everyone knows he is.
I really hope Hatton vs Mayweather happens, that way we will know who the 140lb top dog is.
