I read on another website that Jermaine Taylor got $700,000 for fighting Joppy!! Holy Moly!! That's a lot of dough!
Is he worth that kind of money? I don't think so, at least not yet.

That's twice a Chris Byrd payday, for fighting an over-the-hill journeyman on free TV.
HBO obviously wants to keep him loyal. They see in him another Roy or DLH.

That seems really high to me.
It is unfair that hot prospects can make that kind of money before they are even tested.
It is no wonder Taylor has no intentions of fighting someone good.

Why is it unfair for prospects to get paid that much? Football players out of college get huge deals before they even play a game of pro football. I mean at least he was an Olympic fighter so he has put his work in for a while now.

Taylor is worth twice that amount. He's the most promising middleweight prospect since a young cat names Jones turned pro in '92. I'm shocked he didn't get a cool mill for smacking around the old jalopy they call Joppy. Taylor and Hopkins should split about $10 mill between them (7.5 for the champ) when they finally meet in November '05.

I agree with that too bigdubb.
But I guess I can't complain.
I did get a $1500 signing bonus before I started my job.
They aren't going to fight, Dibella is saying yes and while he is doing so if you listen very carefully you can here Jermain Taylor say, noooooo.
