Who would you like to see come from the Sky Sports Commentary team to the new ITV commentary team??

I'd only have Barry McGuigan.

McGuigan's usually alright but I prefer him in the studio rather than commentating, Watt's voice goes through me a lot of the time so they can keep him! it's a pity Reg & Harry have retired cos that would have been good. I'd like Ian Darke even though he still has the same lines that he did 15 years ago! I'm just used to him by now.

Thanks for the Karma. I'd go along with Barry Mcguigan. Have a lot of respect for the guy. I'd also like to see Steve Bunce in the studio. Like listening to this pundit on the BBC.

Yeah. It was Rosenthal. One of the luckiest bastards on TV. The guy has one of the best jobs around, presenting F1 racing. Travelling around the world. :mad:

Barry McGuigan - Quality... He always get's it spot on!

Jim Watt - Picks the guy he likes before the fight, and sticks with him no matter what! It does piss me off a bit, for example - the way he sucks Morales's ****! Even if Morales is losing.

Ian Darke - Yeah keep Darkey, he maybe a little bit of a joke commentator but he does crack me up. ;)

Glenn McCrory - Seems a little quite, and too unopinionated.

Adam Smith - EXTREMELY ANNOYING!!!... He picks "Buzz words" and using them over and over, (even if they don't apply to the fight in front of us!)... Example: "Look at this HUGE BARRAGE of SHEER SLASHING PUNCHES! The SHEER VELOCITY of SLASHING PUNCHES that REALLY... "pause" ... REALLY GRIND DOWN the fighter in the blue shorts". ---- You mean Ricky Hatton Adam?

But worst of all is ..... STEVE BUNCE!... I don't think I need to explain what an idiot this man is... ;) Everybody already knows!

He's very good at getting around to answering them, (or perhaps he doesn't get many emails :confused: ).

What i like about Steve Holdsworth is if a fighter is **** he'll say so. Not in so many words but a lot of the time he doesn't "big up" the fight being offered by the channel he broadcasts for! You can keep Jim Watt he's a pain in the arse, I'm not fond of Steve Bunce either. Richie Woodhall seems a good bloke and he knows what it's like to get the gloves on.

Steve Holdsworth is funny, i'm suprised he's still got a job because he's always bashing the fights he's commentating on. If he can make eurosport fights interesting then he'd surely do a good job with top class fighters.

He seems like a real boxing fan, so i'm not suprised that anyone who shares his love of the sport will get a reply quickly.

You should email him and tell him to come on to these forums. That would be interesting. I'd do it but i'm far too pissed!!! :D

BTW, Jim Watt annoys the **** out of me, he's always bashing fighters with talent because he jealous of them. I remember when Scott Harrison was going to break his scotish record, he was pissed off that night.

If I can remember correctly, Steve Holdsworth used to be a fighter (but not a very good one)... So he became a match-maker. Now he's just a commentator.

That guy is Sensei Will Vanders! And he's also a complete and utter nob in the commentary box. He comes out with bollox such as "raggamuffin stylee" to describe a fighters style, goes on about a fighters "curriculum vitae" and talks about "full fat fight acxtion". He also screams "It's a knockdooowwwwnnnn" when anybody tastes canvas. He ruins a perfectly good programme and is a total dick!

I havent read this whole thread but i understand that Holdsworth and Duke McKenzie where commentating at Carl Froch and Junior Witter fights, on saturday. Those will be the main ones i think.

lol richie woodhall is ok but steve bunce is great.

hes totally stupidly enthuisiastic but he knows the sport
and isnt patranizing to the the viewers and is direct in his
questioning of the stars. i hate any commentator who just
keeps saying the same things in every concievable way .

I think Steve Holdsworth is terrible.
He often gets a fixed view of the fight in his head and sticks to it despite what he's seeing. He also has a habit of scoring the fight round by round and acting like all you need to know is how he's scored it to know who's winning the fight. Another thing which annoys me is the way he sometimes 'decides' who to score a round for - like the action he's been watching hasn't told him everything he'll need to know.

I was surprised that ITV got him in for the fights last weekend, but I hope he's only there while they find their feet. Was it me, or did the whole presentation feel a little bit dated - like they hadn't changed anything since the mid-90s

McGuigan is almost always spot on, and humble as well if he thinks his opinion is debatable. I can see how some people find Bunce annoying, but I like him - he gives you an enthusiasm which is missing from a lot of pundits and does know what he's talking about. I quite liked Claude Abrams when he was on the BBC.

I can't be arsed with Bunce, but i did think that Spencer Oliver had some good input when he commentated on Sky.

Steve Bunce annoys me but at least he speaks his mind, the majority of the sky sports team agree with anything said. It really annoys me when they talk about how good looking a fighter is, wtf is that about??

They obviously want to get in the ring, but not the onbe with ropes round it!

Steve Holdsworth is a top bloke. Whether it's a top pro title fight or a Thursday night church hall amateur show, he gets right up for it and speaks his mind..If a boxer is crap he says so....it's well funny sometimes.
