Mitchell signs for Judah fight!
By G. Leon

July 06, 2005 - Moments ago, former two time junior welterweight champion Sharmba Mitchell informed **********.com that he has signed a contract to face undisputed welterweight champion Zab "Super" Judah on Showtime Championship Boxing on September 3. "I'm thrilled to get this opportunity and I want to let all of my fans know that I'm not letting anybody down this time. Zab is in trouble," said Mitchell. Judah was unavailable for immediate comment, but his attorney Josh Dubin has informed ********** that the welterweight king hasn't signed any contracts as this goes to print. Judah was unavailable for immediate comment.

Just not sure if this was posted

man is a bum fight. Why is Zab taking lower caliber opponents. This is a great opportunity for Sharmba but...for Zab?? High risk low reward deal here. Booooooo.

Judah by KO. Mitchell may hang fo a while, but Judah's lunging lefts will crush him eventually.

looks like zab is going to savor his belts by taking on easier opponents.

sharmba is a half step up from zabs manditories. and there is bad blood between zab and sharmba which could have mitchell show up with his "A" game. but i don't see no upset.

mosley and margarito are the ones zab should be looking at if he wants to prove himself.

getting beat then beating spinx doesn't make little judah proven to me.

but if zab wants ppv's he's going to have to step it up. at least i don't think a zab/sharmba will be a ppv.i could be wrong.i wouldn't pay for it.

ok does sharmba have good punching power.

against tszyu (II) he looked well capable of sitting
down on good power shots but im sure he has a reputation
for lack of ko power. anyways he moves too much & is gonna
get caught real painfully by zabs super left.

Considering that Christy Martins next fight is a ppv, I wont rule anything out...unfortunately

I wouldn't count Mitchell out. Something tells me that Zab isn't as focused as he claims to be. Mitchcell actually has a chance, a very slim chance, but a chance nonetheless. If Zab is focused for this fight, he wins by a brutal TKO.

Mitchell is gonna get another ass beating. Should be a good fight though

My Theory Has Become Reality..zab Is So Afraid To Face The Top Dogs..that He Is Going To Fight Nobodies For A While And Once He Eventually Steps Up ./.he Will Get Knock Out Easily..he Is Too Small For This Weight....

Margarito #1

True dat. It no shame getting taken out by KT. Sharmba is still a very good fighter. Unfortunately Judah is a great fighter with a lot more power. sharmba knows he can't bang with Zab, so I think he's going to fight a very smart fight and make things difficult for Zab. Still, I think Zab will get to him late, but Mitchell will put on a highly spirited effort.

as of tonight 7/7 zab has not signed the contract. i wouldn't be suprised a bit if zab finds something in the contract that he don't like and backs out. he strikes me as one to sit on the belts for as long as he can and fight the weaker manditories and jabber with over confidents.

he's ridiculed sharmba in public and knows that sharmba may show up for this one. and would be a more tougher fight than the manditories.

if zab really wanted to prove himself he would have to fight a mosley or margarito but he won't. he's in for the long ride and is one of don kings protected cash cows now so he won't want him in with anyone that could hurt him.

no offence but mosley is not a stepup.
its been yrs since he looked great.

judahs calling fighters out yet his team arent making the matchups.
delahoya - judah will be scuppered by tito return.
mayweather - judah will be scuppered by mayweather - corrales II.
judah - tszyu is already scuppered.

judah gatti could be a serious matchup.
lol i really am joking.. margarito it is.

please

Mitchell is far from a 'nobody'. I cant believe how many people are just automatically counting him out. He has much more than a slim chance. Losing to Tszyu (which Zab did also, btw) is not a shame and defiantely doesnt make him a nobody!

Mitchell definitely isn't a nobody, but that does not meanhe can beat Zab..

Everyone knows Zab has much more power. My thing is Zab tries to go for the KO a bit too much. If Sharmba can box him, and stay away from banging, he may have a chance...

I like Mitchell but there was definitely a drop-off between Tszyu I and II and I think people take that to mean that he is on the decline, which Zab has stepped it up this year and won his titles back. It's all a matter of which way each fighter is going in his career...Sharmba up, Zab down.

I'm just hoping that all this means that PBF-Margarito is a go. Maybe that put pressure on Zab to abandon that matchup and instead take a tune-up before fighting the winner of PBF-Margarito next year. Hopefully this is the hidden agenda or else all this news kind of sucks.

Unless, UNLESS, Mitchell was having a bad night (who knows) and he was in with Tszyu, a hard as hell banger! I'm no Mitchell fan, but if he boxes smart and really really wants this, I wont count him out...especially with all the unbelievable upsets we've seen this year!
I could definately get into Floyd-Margarito! I know Floyd has much more than Antonio in the way of style and technique, but Antonio can bang a little too, and is a better mover than some give him credit for. A good matchup for sure! ;)

Could be, who knows with Sharmba, he can be a bit flaky sometimes, and he just might be able to key himself up enough for Zab to cause trouble. Anyway it could be interesting.

People might accuse Floyd of ducking Cotto and Hatton but the fact is that neither of those guys want to fight him. A step to to face a welter beltholder would be impressive no matter what.

If Mayweather goes to 147 he is fuggin moron. 147 is a barren wasteland compared to 140. Plus Mayweather just entered the 140 pound divison basically. On top of that Mayweather vs Hatton and Mayweather vs Cotto are a hell of alot more intriguing matchups than either Mayweather vs Jduah or Mayweather vs Margarito.

If Mayweather wants to achieve the status of being a great fighter he has to defeat Ricky Hatton. Not fight Zab Judah or Sharamba Mitchell or one of those bumbs at 147 who all got KO'd by Tzyu and left the 140 weight class with their tail between their legs. The only really logical matchup at 147 is Magarito vs Judah. The only really logical matchup at 140 is Hatton vs Mayweather. Whoever would win between Hatton and Mayweather would be the King of all these guys between basically 135 and 147. I however understand the fact the Hatton would probably like milk the victory over Tzyu for a while before risking a defeat vs Mayweather. However Cotto is still there.Lastly, 140 pounds is probably a better weight class for Mayweather's frame than 147.

Very interesting. Leaving power out of the equation, they have similar styles (in my opinion anyway) both are slick southpaws that know how to use the ring to their advantage. Unless Judah lands a power shot, I consider that fight a toss up.
I dont blame Cotto for not facing Floyd just yet...I dont think he'd do too well and he is still a little green. Maybe a year or two down the line, MAYBE!

No Cotto isn't there, Arum doesn't want to put him up against Mayweather. And how is 140 not a barren wasteland when you take away Hatton and Cotto? Who the hell is he going to fight, Maussa? At welter there are guaranteed big-money fights against at least three or four fighters, at 140 there's nothing left. This isn't 2002 anymore.

What a load of B0LL0X!... Shamba Mitchell is a shot fighter, and WAS a shot fighter before Mitchell vs Tszyu II.

I hope Judah isn't going to plan anymore of these bull**** fights whilst he's the champion. What happened to the Judah that said, "I'll fight anyone!"??? Why doesn't he at least pick a LIVE opponent then?

Hope Mitchell is getting a good payout. Fight fans won't be much interested in Mitchell after Judah makes him look slow, soft and very beatable.

thank you finally someone sees the truth instead of bashing judah for taking the fight.
