Who would've ever thought it?
Marco Antonio Barrera has accepted the famous and prestigious WBC green belt for his super featherweight triumph over Erik Morales.
Following Marco and Erik's previous fluctuating featherweight war in 2002, Marco who's been a WBO fighter for most of his career, fairly bluntly and undiplomatically declined the WBC belt, much to the ire of World Boxing Council President Jose Sulaiman. What does the author actually meant by "PRODIGAL"? There is nothing in the article that shows or proves that MAB is a prodigal.

MAB has not comeback until he knocks out PACMAN. MAB must wipe the tears from faces of his brother and fans by fighting PACMAN. Morales will kiss the canvass against Manny. Morales is not Pacquiao.

i think guys its about the championship belts before Marco did not want pay saction fees to WBC, throwing his WBC Belt, that's why when he fought the PAC, although he was considered the best featherweight on the planet at that time he did not have any of the alphabet belts...
now he came back and accepted his championship from WBC...

hope he keeps his belt, so when PAC & MAB meet again next time, not only fame, fortune, revenge, confirmation and greatness is on the line, also that WBC Super Featherweight belt should be at stake... :)

THE report SAYS AS MUCH! He WAS A WBO champ for most of his career. I can't recall his ever having worn a WBC belt with pride, though I can vividly remember that he threw away one in disgust! :)
Because of Marco, the WBO gained much of what it can claim as its worldwide standing! This is not to say, of course, that the WBO is any better than Sulaiman's horde!

:D Well not only you . . . there are so many people claiming that MAB was a "washed out" fighter which I don't believe . . . his lost to Pac might have been an off night . . . but MAB is far from being done.
And MAB's claim that his lost to Pac was just an off night makes that clamor for the rematch more astounding. Sooner or later it has to happen.
