People circle.

Besides, the only use for wing chun is in cage tactics.

don't know too much about, but from what I see, it seems very vulnerable to counter punches. doesn't seem like a very effective martial art.

Sorry your statement is crazy!

Yip Man was considered the first martial arts master to teach the Chinese martial art of Wing Chun openly. He had several students who later became martial arts teachers in their own right, including Bruce Lee.

Please dont assume the video posted was ALL of Wing Chun.

2 reasons....

1. Majority of MMA fighters aren't real martial artist in the first place. Just a bunch of guys who failed at wrestling, sucked at boxing, or liked to fight on the street that jumped into the game hoping to get some fame in a new popular sport.

2. MMA has transformed to a style. It's no longer mixed. It's pretty much BJJ, Muay Thai, Boxing and Wrestling. That's what MMA is now, a system of those 4 arts.

Wing Chun would definitely work in MMA. You just have to know how to use it. I know some of it but I doubt trapping would seriously work in MMA consistently. However, changing to the Wing Chun center line punching while a person is against the cage and covering up. The only way to get away from it is to run, you can't even counter it, if your trapped with your back against a wall. You would get a quick TKO/KO, if you really knew how to use it.
ie: muscles are trained to deliver powerful punches in this motion.

You don't see it in K-1 because it isn't practical in K-1 competition. Can't use it effectively with boxing gloves on, the best bet is mma style gloves.

You dont need wing chun just the 108 moves on the wooden dummy and from what i understand thats actually the only part of wing chun bruce lee took the time to master.

did you watch the video? ohhhhhh so then you saw the block, hook ,pull and knife strike to the throat before the punches were even thrown, right?

i dont know about you but id be working on breathing through my colasped wind pipe way before even thinking of throwing counter punches.

though in mma things like knife strikes to the throat arnt allowed while in wing chun its these strikes that allow some one to go all out chain punching with out worrying about counter punches.

wing chun is a good art for real life incapacitation of some one as far as learning the entire art. while in mma wind chun is mainly useless except for the 108 wooden dummy moves, the moves them self not so much but the act of attacking and blocking at the same time at all times along with the pure physical conditioning to your fists and fore arms from beating the crap out of a 200 lb telephone pole could turn a crap fighter to a decent one.

Are you retarded? If that trash worked, any combat sport proponent would use it to their advantage, not just MMA. You can throw any punch you like in boxing, not just the effective, tried and proven types you learn as boxing fundamentals. If that turd style I just wasted 30 seconds of my life watching was some kind of advantage, it would be used in real fights. Unfortunately, it is just for nerds who think Bruce Lee is some kind of real life warrior hero. Like another mentioned, Bruce Lee is a fake, just a movie actor. This bogus crap won't win fights, thats for fvcking sure.

To those talking garbage about knife strike, throat chop wing chang. You are obviously casual fans of real life fighting sports, but hardcore fans of martial art mythology. Maybe the Wing chop death grip hand pull dog strike works well after your flying dragon orb jump, but that crap hasn't won a fight against well trained professional fighters. This guy below was probably warming up a dog to turkey drunken foot strike when he got punched hard and fast in the rather tried and true head location by an average traditional striking student.

tia chi would would work really well actually mainly in developing leg and core strength along with balance. 6 months to learn it and you got your self a 30 min lower body routine that you can do every day and depending on form make as hard as you want.

what does this have to do with wing chun?

besides bruce lee being a movie star who just so happened to learn it in his travels 100 and some odd years after its inception you make no point so **** off.

fail? perhaps if the wing chun guy was trying to show off his kicks and decided to do muay tiah kicks then yes.

where as it looks like the M-1 doucebag wanted him to show off his muay tiah while wing chun kicks are completely different and if anything its an m-1 fail for categorizing Mixed martial arts into muay tiah, BJJ, and wrestling, while never giving wing chun a chance.

MMA = mixed martial arts.

Wing Chun man = only wanted to fight in Wing Chun and doesnt want to learn anything. The guy didnt make it because he couldnt do the most basic of stuff, the guy fell on his a$$ by skimply doing simple kicks (1:53).

I can agree with that, the guy seems very arrognat and c0cky. Even other Wing Chun practitioners have trouble with how he acts.

You disrespecting pieces of shi*t

You think that UFC conformity is the way to go? You are suckers for Dana White. You narrow minding fu.ks, you will never appreciate true martial arts.

Yip Kai Man taught respect, and attacking with defensive measures in mind. Not primitive ground and pound tactics. You stupid arrogant fu.ks fail to realize that ALL fighting styles evolved from China, and Chinese martial arts came from Ancient India.

This doesn't mean anything. As has been said, it is MMA. "Primitive ground and pound" is based on wrestling, which a long with BJJ, makeup the principal core elements of MMA, by and large (followed by kickboxing).

Now, I did attend some fights when I was in Korea, and there were a lot of guys employing TKD, which is not surprising being that it is the most influential combat sport in Korea and so naturally a lot of guys come from that base. My guess is that if you were to look to MMA fights in China, you may see a lot more influence from Chinese martial arts (especially San Shou, I would harken to guess).

The fights in MMA are dynamic. Anyone trying to use strictly wing chun in a mma won't last very long.

MMA is a totally different animal.

This doesn't prove anything. They made a wing chun practitioner use Muay Thai influenced striking. When wing chun, doesn't favor kicks above the waist.

As I said before. It could work if someone knew how to use it properly. Anyone saying throwing punches and clinching won't work is a ****in idiot.
