View Full Version : tony vs couture
cameronpaul 06-23-2010, 08:49 AM just wondering what peoples ideas were about this fight.
my prediction is james toney win - first round, probably straight right hand. orthough i do think he could choke him out. toney is one for making the other guy look like a fool, and no better way to do it than to submit a wrestling specialist.
NECK SNAPPER 06-23-2010, 09:50 AM Toney is a world class fighter couture is trained what ever fighter.
Is just not the same look what happened to silvia.
Fighting is fighting toney is just going to crush him unless its fixed.no world class boxer would lose to any of those guy's.
There high school wreslers with no were to go.
PessimisticPug 06-23-2010, 12:14 PM James is a good boxer but with his extremely limited mobility he would be taken to the ground and harpooned...............Rockin':boxing:
Malius 07-01-2010, 11:08 AM What excuse if Couture wins? "Oh if it was boxing he would of won?"
catalinul 07-01-2010, 02:45 PM Altough I haven't seen Couture fight I have to make him a favorite.
Toney is not trained for this,he ain't training hard,he has a boxing trainerand his style as a whole won't work in MMA.
Couture should easily handle him if he's the lengend they say he is.

NCAA Champ. Olympic Alternate. Army Brat.
What a bum, eh?
Earl-Lesnar 07-01-2010, 08:14 PM If Toney wins, then really that just makes a farce out of the UFC, Knowing how much White hates boxing i doubt he'd put toney in with someone he can beat
BG_Knocc_Out 07-01-2010, 08:19 PM Couture has had a glass chin recently. Getting dropped by fighters who are not known for their power or their hands. Also, he is like 47 years old. Couture doesn't exactly have the ability to shoot-in 10 meters, not that that has been in any of his gameplans anyway. Couture doesn't shoot, he clinches you against the fence to take you down. In order for that to happen, he's going to be in line for some punches. Also, rumor has it that Toney wrestled in highschool, so he might have a little experience. It might also explain how he choked out King Mo in sparring the other week, confirmed by Mo himself.
SLASHEh 07-01-2010, 09:12 PM my thoughts exactly, Randy is getting too old for this ****. In his last few fights he has been fine technically ( like chuck ) but (like chuck ) his punch resistance has clearly diminished. It happens ..
If Toney can land, he will get the stoppage. guaranteed.
If Randy can smother toney so that he cant load up his shots then he will probably win a decision, with a strong posibility of a submission stoppage.
I'll be tuning in anyway

Couture is a legend, but he's a 47 year old legend, whose last couple fights have been at 205, so I would expect him to have a weight disadvantage.
Who wins depends on whether this thing makes it to the ground or not.
Deep Blue 1997 07-02-2010, 04:53 AM What excuse if Couture wins? "Oh if it was boxing he would of won?"
well clearly bro. :pat:
even Couture himself said he wasn't stupid enough to try and box Toney.
he will definitely take him down and win in that fashion (by submission/ground and pound, etc.)
cameronpaul 07-06-2010, 01:29 PM didnt realise couture was 47, might aswell put my house on james toney 1st round ko
VanillaIce 07-08-2010, 12:33 PM war james toney

Well logic would tell you it will go to the ground.

Age is just a number.
A man is only as old as his body. Couture is, and always has been, fanatical about his conditioning. His speech isn't slurred and he has never come into a fight with man tits.
Toney can weigh 240 and Couture could be 205 and he would still be the stronger man in the cage.
There is an outside chance that Toney could hit Couture with a counterpunch and hurt him early in the fight but likely Toney's lazy boxing stance will allow for him to be easily taken down.
Once it's on the ground Couture will beat his ass and then Toney will grab the mic and say "that was ***g*T fighting" and the audience will go berzerk and throw beer all over his ass as he is led out by police.
Anti~Jalandoni 07-09-2010, 06:35 AM if this goes on the ground....for sure randy wins....
Anti~Jalandoni 07-09-2010, 06:37 AM BTW Who has stronger hooks Toney or Rampage.....?

I think youre wrong. Unless Toney has learnt at least a little of all other aspects of MMA, Randy takes him down and submits him. Randy has a killer chin and a great ground game.

Randy will probably submit him, only because Toney is too fat and old to learn some defense against it. I think randys chin will turn too mush if he get's hit though, MMA fighters just aren't as used too or conditioned to being hit hard in the face.
DR.ORGYY 07-09-2010, 11:58 PM hopefully toney ****s randy up!!!!!!
