Yes Freedom isn't free, it comes at the cost of millions of tortured slaves and the bombing of innocents, USA, USA, USA.

But o yes, is all about the bravery *cough*

Yeah, growin up's tough. Can't believe in Santa or John Wayne anymore. Rock Hudson was gay and the US doesn't always champion "Right".

Didn't mean to rain on your barbeque though so eat up ... for tomorrow you may be drafted for a war that no amount of bogus rationalization can explain away. Perhaps there is justice in the world and that guy Bush(I can't bring myself to call him, "President") may be called to task for the blood that is on his hands ... American, Iraqi and the rest.

It's the over riding theme of "The Matrix" ... would you rather face harsh reality or continue the much more comfortable illusion you're accustomed to? Indulge yourself ... as long as you're able.

Um, I know this was just an angst riddern comment but how were millions of slaves tortured in the US's war of independence? Also what bombing of innocents are you referring to, that were a price paid in America's quest for freedom. Isn't that such a lovely word though, ahh... free at last, free at last

Come on buddy, ya can still believe in ol' Kris Kringlez! As for that ruffian John Wayne, I'm pretty sure he's fictional. No idea who Rock Hudson is, name sounds familiar, you must be old. ;)

Is it really fair to hold any human controlled entity to a perfect level of accountability? You're only setting yourself up for failure, as we're all human. Well, maybe not MCM, she seems like super mom at times... I think she's obviously not from this planet.

Wizard, I think your post was in bad taste and you used poor judgement. The Fourth of July is our celebration of signing the Declaration of Independence. We take the time to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom that we have now, and we also remember those who are currently fighting for us to MAINTAIN that freedom.

I generally don't like to judge others, I respect that others have an opinion on political issues as well as moral ones.

But this time you showed no such respect to me and my post. My BIL gave his life 10 years ago after being in the Gulf War. That was not a war that we started. But we fought in it because we were asked to help. I swear to God that if we ever meet face to face, I'm gonna take you out behind the proverbial barn and teach you a lesson or two on respect.

I don't give a rat's ass what you think about my country, but at least have enough respect for me and let me have my celebration and my post without you hijacking it or ruining it.

Hmm, with all the involuntary extensions you could make a case that there's already a draft of sorts in effect. With the recruiting and retention problems they have along with the requirements they'll need in Iraq well into the next decade and beyond it's no great leap to suggest a draft.

Holding Bush to a perfect level of responsibility? That would be difficult. How about reasonable? The man lied and orchestrated a huge misinformation campaign to lead us into a war that has blown up in his face and led to the deaths of thousands; many of our own young people who will only serve as fertilizer for cemetaries across our country instead of as fathers, mothers, leaders of tommorrow ....

I think the imagery of a cretin with bloody hands is most appropriate for that babbling ninny.

You've obviously begun your celebration by your post; you have more to fear from being shot by a supposed patriot out firing his guns like a fool or drunk driving than a draft or anything else. Only thing most are celebrating is being off work. Give someone your keys and keep your head down.

Happy 4th.

I guess you told me.

You told me what your true maturity level is, that's for sure.

I started a thread concerning an American holiday. Why is it that you felt the need to post a sarcastic comment concerning an AMERICAN holiday is beyond me.

My country isn't perfect, but it is my country. Not one single country is perfect but I am damn sick and tired of people like you, (meaning someone who has never lived here) bashing my country.

I don't bash your country or in fact, anyone else's. I was angry at you for your lack of respect. I HATE that no matter who is from where.

Yes, we had slaves, so did other countries. Why is it that we're treated as if we're the only ones who've ever had them?

Ever notice that when a country is in trouble, they call on the U.S. to bail them out? But as soon as we do, they want us to get the hell out? No 'thank you', no respect, etc.

You showed no respect for my post Wizard. That's why I threatened to take you out behind the 'proverbial barn' and teach you a thing or two about RESPECT.

Obviously I scared you enough to 'make' you call me a *****.
Is there something wrong that you can't argue effectively with me without resorting to name calling and rude comments?

Let me know when you've grown up enough to argue like an adult.

I think everybody is blowing everything a little out of proportion here. Honestly, when I first read Wizard's post, I took it as a sarcastic remark. Nothing more, nothing less. Maybe it's because I'm not American or something. I just don't see the big deal, really. The USA is the most powerful country in the world, so without a doubt, people from other countries are gonna throw stones. That's just the way it is. Everybody needs to relax here.

Wizard does have a valid point about slavery and civilian deaths. The US had slavery for a hell of a lot longer than any other country that pops into my head at the moment. Not to mention the US whiped out TWO Japanese cities in one day with atomic weapons. The US can't deny that they whiped out more innocent people, women & children, in one day than any other country in recorded history. I'm sure the Japanese children were thinking "God bless America" when they're faces were running off their skulls.

Anyways, I love the US. I love American TV, American women, American sports and American music. Happy 4th of July. Mellow the **** out.

Purity

The US can't deny that they whiped out more innocent people, women & children, in one day than any other country in recorded history.

had the Roman, Persian, Greek, Egyptian, Russian, British, French, Spanish or any other empire, had nuclear technology back in those dayz then you would have seen worse. Every country that's had dominate political history has committed vicious acts of murder as a trade off for it's moments of peace and prosperity. every great empire also built itself off slavery.

not to say it's right. it's just history. would it happen nowadayz? probably not but ya never know. mankind has a history of learning from it's history.....not for the sake of avoiding the same mistakes, just simply customizing their own revised versions.

i agree w/ ya that everyone's gonna throw stones at us. we've been posting for over 3 years on here & sherdog and it's always the same ****. but i also agree w/ MCM & Sara in that it's in bad taste and just overall stupid.

and, in my opinion, wizerd's rants aren't too sincere because if he was really into tearing into the hypocracy of worldwide injustice then we'd be hearing more than just anti-American ****. where's the long posts about the ****ed up Rwanda genocide that cost over 5 million lives just a couple years ago?
and if we're so inapt to grinding on a nation's past, what about all of the other countries that have exploited slavery in history? why isn't he bashing modern Germany for Hitler's acts? granted, we ****ed up. but we're also the only country in history that continually strives to make retribution for acts committed over 100-400 years ago. yet slave built Egyptian pyramids are considered a 'world wonder' and i don't hear any complaining.

why?
cause it aint popular. it's not trendy. bashing America by comparing us to a Star Wars or Matrix epic seems to be the 'in' thing cause it makes the common person feel enlightened- due to their sources, and also gives a sense of purpose- due to their rebel-like outlashes on injustices they choose to find. nonetheless, it doesn't make you wise to find injustice. look around, it's everywhere. and it's never gone away. and sources aren't hard to find with internet access.
people like him don't care about injustice because anyone who sincerely dislikes injustice strives for JUSTICE. one's efforts may go towards exploiting injustice but they'll ALSO go to primarily promoting justice through acts and inspiration if they truely gave a ****.

but i never see any of that. and for every arrogent blinded American dip**** on message boards, there's at least 20 hippy trolls (from countries that, even though are prosperous in their own rights, have also been largly influenced by America in a positive way) that will turn any topic into an America/Nazi shpeal for the sake of their own personal pride. trust me ****ers, nobody's fallin for it. we're not impressed. and don't tell me that you don't care about our opinions because when you make bold comments you're looking for a reaction. so i hope this assists you in, not just seeing that you're an ass, but also WHY i feel you're an ass. now if you'll excuse me, i have to go make money off people with bad credit while i finish off this white chocolate mocha frapa ****in thing from Starbucks :)

*To no one in particular* "Mob justice." This could get ugly real quick.

Btw, I said the **** about The Matrix but ... it was just a post about reality and the choice we all have to live in it or not. The point being, having a raised conciousness is a good thing ... unless the deluison you're currently living in is preferable. ie, beneficial, more attractive, self-serving, etc ....

I recognize SOME things as being different than I initially thought so I reconsider how I perceive it. I don't perceive EVERYTHING clearly so I comment on those things I have an opinion on, given the limited amount of intelligence, education, experience and information I have to form my views with.

Basically I hate Bush but I love my country and our soldiers who are willing to risk their lives for it's interests. I think Bush is more of a capitalist and an opportunist than a commander in chief who's only interest is his people and their well being. I truly believe he's conflicted concerning his own agenda and what's best for this country. Time will tell, so there's no need to argue about that.

Not saying I'm right but my opinion is as valid as anyone else's. Obviously, I could be wrong.

Yeah but what are the consequences of you being angry and responding to disrespectful posts? You'll feel bad about something you may say in anger or you'll internalize your frustration with him which is not good for you physically or mentally. I mean the options are just not good to continue a negative dialogue with someone who could care less who's right or wrong, who's hurt or embarassed.

You won't change that guy and basically there's no remedy on the internets for being disrespected. Cut your losses, his insensitivity and your civility and maturity is a recipe for more frustration and hurt feelings on your part.

I disagree too. For different reasons. How many of us on here have actually thought about what someone else has said? (or posted?) I know I have. I've learned a few things, I've seen something from someone else's point of view, and I've actually changed my mind on some issues because of those postings. Not everyone is like that, I know. But there is always hope. The main thing that I ask for is RESPECT.

Wizard has a right to say what he wants, but I request that it be done respectfully, at least with me. Bashing my country is not the way. But he does need to remember that because he has the right to speak freely, it's because of what past Americans have done and what current ones are doing. Whether or not he agrees with it is besides the point. Even the Canadians can speak freely because of what battles Americans have fought.
