View Full Version : Complain about your boss here

I'll get the ball rolling...

My boss is an obsessive-compulsive twit who always acts super-happy as if she is a kindegarten teacher. Whenever she praises something I've done at work I feel like a toddler who's figured out how to use the toilet. She has zero personality, except for being nice. It creeps out most people here, though of course she has no idea.

She's also really using this niceness to mask here obsessive tendencies. I do tech writing in my job and as my supervisor she is required to edit my work. Well, she is the kind of editor who changes everything to how she would write it, even if the way I've done it is perfectly correct. She correct us all on "standards" that nobody has ever heard about, and nobody would even notice if they were not being applied.

Plus we work at a tech company and she has no damn clue how computers work. I can understand coming into the position lacking this knowledge (since we're not programmers), but she doesn't seem at all interested in learning anything. She seems to think that her knowledge of, say, indexing standards, makes up for this ignorance.

Plus she sends us thousands and thousands of emails whenever her obsessive mind latches onto something that she perceives as a problem. She once scolded us all for not using a consistent folder structure for each of our courses.

.....I knew you were in trouble when you started with "she" when talking about your boss. Yeah, I'm my own boss so I can't really ***** about me too much.

The only complaint I have about my boss is "Timing" He always comes in my office when I am either reading posts here or posting. He really doesn't care, but if I was falling behind on my projects, he might give a ****.... Don't know, I never fall behind. He isn't a boxing fan at all, so I don't worry about him reading anything I write about him. Nothing negative.... Oh wait, he does tend to have bad breath.

I am a designer for a large engineering & construction company.
My immediate supervisor, & my department manager......are both great to work for.
They have faith in me, & let me work at my own pace. When I need off, or need to cut my day short....it's never a problem.
I have zero complaints.

But....I can see where you'd be having problems with your boss, Bomb.
Your boss is a woman....& women in positions of power in the workplace, are almost always impossible to deal with.
So many are too rigid ....& then, in moments of true pressure, you see their feminine emotions & self-centered ways come to the forefront.

God Bless You....no wonder you hate your job.

Thanks for the sympathy, jabs. The thing is that this might be a decent job if it wasn't for her. Certainly there's nothing wrong with the company I'm working for.

Here's another thing she does: she listens into people's conversations in other cubicle aisles, and comes and joins in if she feels like it. So basically the illusion of even having a bit of privacy is taken away. I'm sure she's seen "BoxingScene" on my status bar when she comes over here, as well, since she would be the kind of person who would notice that. At this point I really don't care.

I can't really complain about my boss. But one of my coworkers is just......unbelievably stupid. My work involves construction projects around my college campus. The construction usually involves setting up computers and or audio visual equipment as well.

On one project, this guy was assigned to drill holes in the floor. Now bear in mind, I have student worker status getting paid by the hour etc. This guy is supposed to be a professional. He is salaried and all that jazz. After 2 hours, he runs into the room where I was working and says "I can't take it anymore I quit." He was on the verge of tears because he could not drill holes in the floor. Was he fired after this breakdown? NOPE. He wasn't even reprimanded. Instead the chief engineer was accused of brow beating him.

Another instance. Our boss and this guy...we will call him John were in the same room getting instructions. The boss gave John some specific instructions then left. John proceeded to turn to me and ask me to repeat what the boss told HIM.

The term useless is sometimes thrown around lightly regarding people in the workplace. He fits the term perfectly.

I have trouble taking orders from people I know are dumber than me. That is why I have trouble joining the army.

I will probably complain about my boss when i come back. This is my first day at this job.

Also i used to have an ******* for a boss when i worked at HP. That guy got mad at me because he didnt teach me exactly how to report a bug, yet I did it and in my opinion it was a great first effort but because i didnt list the steps (in numbers) to recreate the problem he yelled at me. Needless to say i kinda yelled at him back and he shut up.

After that little episode of him being on the rag i switched to the Latin America division which was run by a woman, now that was the best ever. She was quite nice, and even stood up for me when all of a sudden im a latin america tech instead of North America. She also would show up like 1 hour later to work than my previous boss so me and my co-workers on the latin american side would chill in the cafeteria till she got there. And when times got stressful because engineers couldnt do their job right she stood up for us again.

I ****in hate my boss. When I started workin I said to her "hey I need Friday nights off because I wanna go to Shul, I'm not supposed to work on Shabbat." She says to me "you're a Jew???" "yea" I say. She says "well you can't take Fridays off, we got work - and don't go tellin your mom and gettin me some big lawsuit!" Because I'm 17 and my mom works at the same store

I was so ****in pissed!! Then I requested off for Yom Kippur and she was so pissed and the lady that does scheduling shes kept asking me "your a Jew? You're really a Jew?" and so instead of givin me Yom Kippur off she gave me a Sunday off instead so I was a no call no show and got in trouble

What's so ****in stupid about is that there have been like two other employees who've come and asked for all Fridays off since them to go to the football games cus their kids are in football and she's given it to them no questions asked

I'm no Uncle Phil, but I like my bosses. For reference, I work at Sears. Zeeshan, who is usually my direct manager is cool as hell. He sometimes makes me work stupid 7:45 AM shifts, but hes cool. Thalia, this Filipino-Panamanian chick, is hot as hell and is always nice to me. My job is pretty cool. I get my work done, like almost everyone there, and get to chill at the mall. I like my job.

The story's ****ed up. I'm not sure if suing would work though. You'd be surprised how often people can act like bastards and get away with it. My boss the bookstore I worked for fired a girl because she had a terminal illness that made her have to call in sick on short notice on occasion. She even took the case to court but he did not even get a slap on the wrist.

Wow. That was a great description, amen to that. I know from personal experience. Looks like you have some experience with this as well. I had a female manager that was nice most of the time but when it got stressful she would turn into this monster. Funny thing is, she was such a small person. How can such a small person have so much rage in her I'll never understand.

yea. Bosses can be great sometimes. When I started Jobcorps I was doin construction work there and it was hard but I loved my boss. He was so great and a real tough guy, he had cancer in the throat but he was there every day. Great guy was like a father to me! Now his wife has his position and oh my G-d this lady is tough as ****, she could woop anyone, guy or girl. I'm serious she's been a rough carpenter forever she's the toughest person I ever met. SHe's a real great person

Would you rather have a good job and **** boss or a good boss and a **** job???

And thanks everyone for the support!!

I'm female and I'm gonna agree with you. Not all women are that way but most of the time when a woman is the boss (especially over men) she gets the whole feminist attitude and is a real dick**** to work with. All of our managers are female and they're just as gossipy and backstabbing as the employees it's kind of pathetic.

Not all women are that way though, like my carpentry boss furthest thing from it

I used to work at Blimpies and that **** was cool. The boss was never in so I would bring over friends, hook em up with sandwiches and soda and just chill. I would talk to the girls who would come in. One day I came to work soaking wet so the boss made me go in the back and dry off. I was in the back in my boxers and a wife beater and he told me to sweep the floor. I told him my clothes weren't dry. He told me, "Just do them in your boxers, no ones coming in today, its raining". I started to sweep the floor and then a bunch of kids came in and were just cracking up. I just continued to work that day in my boxers.

At my job at a grocery store I had a boss I REALLY hated.

He was the most falsely friendly, insincere person I have ever encountered. He would always "say Hi how are doing?" really friendly sounding and no matter WHAT your answer was he said before you could even FINISH "Thats great!"

I HATE bosses like that. This ****er was REAL condescending too. I hate that even more.

The worst thing about my boss is that she tries to act nice all the time even thought it's obvious that she's not really like that. Really nice people aren't just nice all the time, they'll give you **** if it's called for. She had this passive-aggresive way of "suggesting" you do things, meaning that she really wants you to do them. But then she puts a big smile on her face so it would be like you're the ******* if you got upset. She sort of acts like those "reformed" Christians who act all nice but aren't really reformed at all (not talking about everyone here, mind you, just the phonies).

I used to test PC Software In the R&D department for their mass produced systems.

Also i would like to say that my female boss at HP was my second female boss (the other was a credit union manager) and i guess im just a lucky S.O.B but both of them were awesome to work for. Guy bosses on the other hand...

That story's hilarious. I used to work at Pizza Hut years ago and we stole all kinds of food. Friend of mine walked off with a whole bag of frozen chicken wings. The head manager was wise to it but could only catch guys when he was working. I feel sorry for him looking back on it...he was a bit of a hardass, but being a glorified babysitter for a bunch of teenagers at a fast food joint must suck pretty bad.

I test All in One products. Basically, fax machines.

When I first strted working here I was a temp and had a female boss. I work in a closed lab environment and she would be all nicie nice while outside of the lab, but would act like a female Hitler when the doors closed. You would see her browbeat 40 year old men into submission on a daily basis. Evetually word on her people skills got out and when we had a round of layoffs a few years back she got clipped, and I got her job :). Right now my boss is great and I cant complain. He lets me do what I want because he trusts me to get my job done. I think he also appreciates me being an independant worker, leaving him more time to do his job. He also like sports, likes beer and likes women, so we have a lot in common.

I ****ing hate my ex-boss with all my heart. The slimey two faced bastard made me redundant 4 weeks before christmas. He didn't even have the balls to tell me to my face, i found when i opened the companies mail, my p45 was there and it said i finished work in 3 days time. This happened 2 weeks ago but i'm still ****ing pissed about it still. I thought we got along but obviously i was wrong. Now i'm unemployed at the worst time of the year to be. It's a good job a box or i would have been arrested because i would have gone to his house and beaten the **** out of him. Luckily i just take my frustrations out on my sparring partners.
