It would be interesting, thats for sure. Im not sure he has the size to beat a big heavyweight. I think Tua would be a good match-up. Toney would have to box his ass off in this one.

Exactly. Toney eats up guys who come right at him. Guys who give Toney problems are guys who stay on the outside and move.

As we all know David Tua has the power to take out James Toney but thats about it. Someone like James Toney has the skills to beat the likes of David Tua quite comfortably. Chris Byrd managed to do it and he has a awkward style like Toney. Either way Toney needs to fight someone respectable in a aggressive way to earn respect as a true heavyweight contender in my opinion.

I agree. He counterpunched effectively alright, but he can be hit. What if some aggressive heavyweight shoots from the outside like a Vitali? Lights out! Good night. So very true, a prime Evander Holyfield would have given James Toney a nasty beating. I'd give James abit of credit against the likes of David Tua as he is a little one dimensional for James but a versatile heavyweight in their prime should be able to beat James Toney.

Although we haven't seen him take a big time flush shot from a real heavy, I think he could take it. He throws some nasty, accurate counters too. Prime Holy would have beaten Toney at HW. I would have liked to see them fight at cruiser. It would have been a great fight for awhile until Holy outworked him.

True Jabs BUT he is a active heavyweight in his prime trying his hardest to make a name for himself. He has tremendous power and the typical size of an average heavyweight today. He would have given Toney every single test in the book and i'm sure we would have seen a heartfelt performance from him. Jameel may lack motivation against heavyweights but put a big man in the ring with a guy who was a middleweight and i'm sure you see a compeltely different McCline. Pride alone would make him press this fight on and give Toney the typical heavyweight fight. I think it was ideal because if this fight would have happened we would have been sat here now saying

"Wow James Toney is a true heavyweight contender, the way he handled a 250lb 6,6 Jameel McCline was amazing"

Jameel would have been a great test for Toney. If Toney needs experience for a guy with the size of Vitali that's the man to fight. I think Toney should be very stingy when considering opponents. He needs to take the shortest, least risky road to Vitali.

Toney will beat every fighter out there who chooses to fight him aggresively, its a heavyweight that chooses to throw a jab and move around a lot that will beat him, I think Vitally has a good enough style to do it, plus I hear he is training with Dave Tiberi, can someone confirm this?

toney can keep yapping about this guy or that guy ducking him,but if he doesnt manage to get a fight with a high rated or ranked highly heavyweight then he wont get any consideration for a title fight.
