Agreed. It's alright though because he'll look like a middleweight come fight time.

I think the weight has finally caught up to Gatti. He doesn't look good at all. Mayweather by late stoppage.

Oh yeah the fans in attendance for the weigh-in were more pro-Mayweather. Maybe everyone in Atlantic City won't be against Mayweather as we first thought.

exactly, what planet are you guys from? Floyd is right in front of the camera, gatti is much further away, how does Cotto look at weigh ins? that guy looks like he is about to die before a fight, gatti will look much better tomorrow night

Absolutely. It's just dehydration. Like I said before, he'll come into the ring weighing a good 15 lbs more than the wife beater.

Gatti looks like he's about to faint.
Gatti always looks like that during a weigh-in. At the scales for Gamache he looked like he just got his ass kicked in by a heard of buffalo after fighting a 10 year battle with AIDS. And he was STILL overweight.

He'll be fine.

Kenny Blankenship
06-24-2005, 07:51 PM
Exactly. Gatti will be fine.
I remember the Morales/Pac weigh in.
Morales was nothing but skin and bones, looked like he hadn't eaten in weeks and the look on his face was dreadful, he looked like a beaten man before they even got in the ring. I couldn't help but wonder to myself if I was crazy for wanting to bet on the guy.
Pac was ripped and confident, a mirror image of what Mayweather looked like today.
As we all know Morales won the fight.
Never judge the outcome of a fight when it comes to how a fighter looks at the weigh in, unless he's a heavyweight with a huge beer gut.

I'm sure you're right. He seems to have boxing weight management down to a science.

It takes a terrible toll on the body, though, and you have to wonder whether one of these days (as he gets older) he just isn't going to able to pull it off.

Gatti will win this fight. Mayweather is not ready for Gattis relentless style. I dont think that Mayweather has seen anyone who can take as much punishment as Gatti can while dishing out hard shot after hard shot. Gatti will win by KO.

I see FM going through hard times, getting hurt by a few big hooks and show his pride and balls to fight back finish gatti. and get a true fan base in the process. I see this fight a bit like DLH/vargas, vargas looked so damned bigger and could rock goldie everytime he connected in the first few rounds. then goldie science and speed equalized everything and he finished him off in a terrific fight. that's exactly how I see it for tonight.

Gatti is in better shape period. Look at the photo closely and it is obvious Mayweather has the softer physique. His pecs are not well defined, and neither are his biceps. He has nice abs but that's it. Where's his obliques? Mayweather at 139 has too high a bodyfat percantage as is. He's a definitely at a higher bodyfat% at 139 than Gatti is at 140. I don't expect him to put on much weight, if any, come fight night. Gatti on the other hand is very cut and dry and WILL put on some weight.

It's more of Mayweather looking softer than I expected than anything. I'm not saying Gatti looks excellent (though the fact that both pictures of him are in worse lighting and from a further distance shows a bias by the photographer) but he looks firmer than Floyd. Look at those photos carefully and you'll see what I'm saying. Mayweather looks a little soft and I was expecting him to come in shredded.

http://www.cyberboxingzone.com/boxingchronicle/images2_floydscale.jpg

This is what he looked like for Jesus Chavez. He looks a lot better in this photo.

Mayweather's physique has suffered going up to super lightweight. He doesn't seem to be putting on muscle and filling out like he should. He should be just as ripped for Gatti as he was for Chavez but he instead he almost has love handles. Where are the rock hard obliques? Because of the above picture I know that Mayweather has the genetics to be in better shape. I think he's been taking Gatti lightly. Sure he looked great in that training video but that was for the media. No one is sure how the average day of training went, or how late he was staying up each night.

I am changing my prediction. I think even this post prime Gatti has a puncher's chance. Mayweather is going to learn a harsh lesson in humility and in taking his opponents seriously, even if he does manage to win on skill and talent. This will not be an easy fight.

When Roy Jones moved up to heavyweight he looked just as ripped at 190 or whatever he weighed as he did at 175. Moving up in weight is no excuse to be soft, especially at the lighter weights where you are only moving up a few pounds anyway.

From what I can see on HBO's website, Mayweather is a bit soft for this one. However, photographs can sometimes make a fighter appear flabbier than they are. Does anyone have a clip of the weigh in? It would be appreciated.
