Clegg 05-21-2010, 12:57 PM The WBC rankings at 154 are a joke, but going by how they currently stand he'll probably fight for the vacant title if Martinez vacates.

Isn't Chavez Jr the no.1 contender at 154 in the WBC rankings which is disgraceful
Sparked_1985 05-22-2010, 11:24 AM I don't get Rhodes.
I watch him and think he should be and looks world-class but I have a feeling he'll be unmercifully pummelled if he does take on a geniune world champion like Sergio Martinez.
Cotto would be a very good fight for him style-wise.

I'd love to see Rhodes finally reach the highest level, more than a decade after he initally looked so promising. I agree with you've said, sometimes it even seems like he can do a better job of blocking and slipping shots, yet he almost can't be bothered or something.
It's a shame that Jamie Moore went the way he did. To be honest I could imagine Moore being able to beat the likes of Yuri Foreman, Cotto, Spinks (who has slowed down now) and a few others.
Not saying he would've beaten them all, of course, but you have to question how someone like Foreman (only 8 KOs) would keep Moore off of him, and how Cotto would deal with someone who was bigger and harder punching than Margarito (albeit without the granite chin). I think he could've given both a very tough night.
Shame really. With the right connections Moore might have been really popular and gotten a couple of title shots. His fights with Macklin and Rhodes are the kind that make people fans of the sport, but they were only seen by a small number of people. Instead he was fringe world-class for a few years and then his abilities declined before he got a shot at a belt.

The decline in Moore was heartbreaking.
It was overnight more or less.
He beat the **** out of Piccarillo with embarrassing ease and then Rhodes just seemed to take it all out of him.
He wants to fight Margarito next in Vegas.
alza1988 05-22-2010, 01:39 PM Margarito man get that on. That would be quality .A war probably

I think you may be surprised.
I know a lot of the behind the scenes stuff with Rhodes, and there's a real chance. The plan would be for Rhodes to win his next fight, then take Marg on after that.
bboy80 05-23-2010, 04:08 PM Rhodes v marg or cotto id love to see them both.
