View Full Version : Which Barrera vs Morales fight was the greatest? Zab Super Judah 06-24-2005, 04:19 AM I'm not sure which one is my favorite..fight 3 was the only decision that went to the right man RoyFlapsHisLips 06-24-2005, 04:27 AM Undoubtedly the first fight. Regardless of the decision. A brutal yet beautiful thing to behold. The Golden Boy 06-24-2005, 06:50 AM It's definetly either 1 or 3. I would have to go with 3 though. While one was a fantastic fight i love the fact that everyone saw Barrera as a shot fighter and he came out and gave one of the best performances of his career. Ricomania77 06-24-2005, 07:01 AM the first fight was the best one of them all. The third comes in second Cletus Funk 06-24-2005, 07:32 AM 1st without a doubt. mic573 06-24-2005, 09:56 AM It's definetly either 1 or 3. I would have to go with 3 though. While one was a fantastic fight i love the fact that everyone saw Barrera as a shot fighter and he came out and gave one of the best performances of his career. You can say the same thing about the first fight as well. Everybody thought Barrera was finished going into that first fight. I'd say the first fight followed closely by the third but the second was no slouch either. .::|ULTIMATE|::. 06-24-2005, 10:15 AM The first one easily, that fight was brutal, technical, fast paced, simply non-stop action at the elite level. neils7147933 06-24-2005, 10:25 AM I would say 1. Then 2. Then 3. I know 3 was called the fight of the year (when I thought it was Pac/Marquez) - but I scored this fight very lopsidedly for Barrera, contrary to how the judges scored it. oldgringo 06-24-2005, 10:26 AM The first one easily, that fight was brutal, technical, fast paced, simply non-stop action at the elite level. Well said. oldgringo 06-24-2005, 10:28 AM I would say 1. Then 2. Then 3. I know 3 was called the fight of the year (when I thought it was Pac/Marquez) - but I scored this fight very lopsidedly for Barrera, contrary to how the judges scored it. I scored it 6-5-1 Barrera. Actually, had the judges all scored the 12 round 10-9 for Morales I think it would have been a draw. Morales should have won the 12th. He almost put him on his ass early and then he hurt him badly against the ropes with around 30 seconds to go. I always think had that been a 15 round fight that Erik would have stopped him. mic573 06-24-2005, 10:57 AM Barrera tripped in the 12th that's why he almost went down. jabsRstiff 06-24-2005, 10:59 AM The first fight....hands down. As for the second fight : That was not a great fight. Barrera fought very tentatively in the first half of the fight. The exchanges that came later in the fight never came close to matching those in the first & third fights. oldgringo 06-24-2005, 11:05 AM Well yeah, but Barrera regained his feet a little bit and Erik jumped on him right after he saw it. I think had Erik landed one good right hand when Barrera was trying to get his composure back it would have been scored a KD. Even so, the ref had to assist Barrera a bit when he held him up a little. Action Blackson 187 06-24-2005, 11:07 AM 1st one easily... wrong guy won... but it was still easily the most action packed of the trilogy... and that's sayin a lot since all 3 were classics. oldgringo 06-24-2005, 11:14 AM I had Morales winning 7-4 going into the 12th round. Even with the "knockdown" which was the worst call ever, I had Morales edging him 114-113. amaru 06-24-2005, 12:40 PM i think the first fight was the best fight followed by the third fight, then the second fight. i actually think the second fight is very underated. in the second fight rounds 1-6 were techical, they were reserving their energy and rounds 6-12 were very good rounds. in my opinion i had barrera winning the first fight, i had the second fight a draw (even though it can be argued that morales should have got that) and i had barrera winning the third fight. i think the third fight is the only fight out of this trilogy were no one really complained about the decision. the first fight tho is the best fight i have ever seen, i remember reading the punch stats for this fight and morales and barrera threw over 1200 punches between them and only 120 punches were jabs between them and the other shots were just power shots  talk about a war Truth 06-24-2005, 12:48 PM The first one without a doubt... SacTown1 06-24-2005, 01:25 PM Fight #2 was the best, because I was there at the MGM in the last row with my fraternity bro's and we got sloshed all weekend & had a great vacation :) But seriously, #1 was a classic fight, by far the best of the 3... #2 was a good scrap, but below-par for each guy in terms of sheer excitement... and #3 was an awesome rubber match that settled the score once & for all that Barrera was/is the better prizefighter |
