View Full Version : Hopkins Wins By Round 9 Ko The Fix 09-19-2004, 12:27 AM iam so happy he did that. i love seeing dlh lose and the way he did was great. i heard that he did well in the fight though and even won the first 4-5 rounds mexway 09-19-2004, 12:42 AM I ****ing called it 9 rds hahahahahahahahahhahahahaha :D SonnyG8R 09-19-2004, 12:43 AM I'll be honest with you. It didn't even look like the shot that knocked Oscar out even landed cleanly. It wasn't like the shot that floored Dorin that was clearly a killer shot. I'm really surprised. And yes, through the first 8 rounds it was pretty close. S0UTHPAW 09-19-2004, 12:46 AM It was a good fight in which the better man won. I like to see both fighters giving each other respect after the fight like Hopkins and DLH did. Good sportsmenship between them. SonnyG8R 09-19-2004, 01:13 AM So did anyone think this fight lived up to the hype? I thought it was boring as ****. Cleary23 09-19-2004, 01:17 AM I think this fight lived up to everything. It was a great tactical battle at the beginning but it never ended quickly. Whats better than a 9th round HARD ASS body shot right on the liver that makes a man with a lot of heart not be able to get up. I loved it and it had me pumped from the beginning. Lots of props to Oscar for steppin up his game he wouldve killed Sturm tonight NiGe2011 09-19-2004, 01:53 AM I thought the fight did okay as far as living up to the expectations, which were of course VERY high. Despite the fact that Oscar stood and traded more then the public thought he would, the result turned out to be surprisingly along the lines of alot of perdictions (that being a late KO) with Hopkins' greater power eventually just wearing down Oscar. My only beef is that my bet did not go through in the fantasy betting when we switched over as I had Hopkins by KO... ah well! As far as what is next for Oscar, I would be interested in seeing him involved in a rematch with the soon returning Vargas- it was a good fight and Oscars' highest moment, but I think Vargas is capable of getting revenge as well. For the future of Hopkins, I hope that he gives Eastman a shot at the title and then is out of the game before Taylor is good enough to deserve a shot- as that is still a few years down the road... m00ks 09-19-2004, 04:32 AM It's true the punch did't seem to have juice. fight was smart buut oscar couldn't do those fast combos for 12 straight rounds. No matter how good of a shape your in. Bernard was patient that he was, made it his fight. Did you guys hear his entrance music, "I did it myyyyyy waayyyyyy!" lol priceless... And I got screwed in fantasy betting. I called it right and lost all of my money. Ranger2408 09-19-2004, 05:15 AM I read the article on the homepage seems like alot of things were messed up ,oscars hand, the drugs in his system, the judges, hardly ideal conditions for the fight. Dark Destroyer 09-19-2004, 08:04 AM I'll be honest with you. It didn't even look like the shot that knocked Oscar out even landed cleanly. It wasn't like the shot that floored Dorin that was clearly a killer shot. I'm really surprised. And yes, through the first 8 rounds it was pretty close. It caught him right round the side of the liver, it was a murderous shot. You could hear the impact of it. Body shots are devastating, some can look tame but the damage they can do is terrible. The body shot Gatti floored Dorin with was perfectly clean to the mid section of Dorins stomach, the shot Bernard hit Oscar with was in the same area Roy hit Virgil Hill. NichtGeflechten 09-19-2004, 09:54 AM Roy Jones hit Hill with a right to the floating ribs.....so that's not really true. Dark Destroyer 09-19-2004, 10:59 AM Roy Jones hit Hill with a right to the floating ribs.....so that's not really true. I said it was the same area so it is semi true :D mic573 09-19-2004, 12:03 PM I thought it was a close fight with Hopkins really coming on late in the fight. 4 to 3 with one even was my card. Bernard never was able to hurt Delahoya or even shake him before the body shot. It was heading to the cards because it didn't seem to me that Oscar was being worn out that much. Hopkins strength was obvious at the end of the fight by just coming forward and making Delahoya move more to try and avoid the punches from Bernard. Cleary23 09-19-2004, 12:34 PM you can easily compare the Roy punch with Hopkins. Body shots are becoming more and more popular and fighters are realizing now that you knock guys oout with them. I think we'll see more in the future. Hirurg_ 03-02-2005, 05:08 AM iam so happy he did that |
