View Full Version : How long will Drake's reign of popularity last? Truth 05-19-2010, 05:37 PM how long?..... Truth 05-19-2010, 05:40 PM My prediction is 3-4 more years. Then his style will probably fizzle out and a new jack will takeover as the pop star of hip hop. Ya Boy NeXt 05-19-2010, 07:23 PM Difficult to say, could be longer than that, could be shorter. The thing he has going for him is that his style isn't too difficult to adjust to different kinda of beats/music, plus he sings on most of his hooks, too. Thank Me Later 05-19-2010, 08:58 PM I really think it depends on him. How long he decides to make music and how long he can put out hits. It's not hard to fall off in the game. A lot of good artist fall off. Everybody's a fad in the rap game. Everybody has their time to reign. Jay-Z, Ja Rule, Lil Jon, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, on and on it won't stop. McAlister 05-19-2010, 11:43 PM who ever voted 6 months needs to be slapped lol no way drake falls off in 6 months his lyrics are by far hotter than any other artist out (on a lyrical stand point) the ladies like his look, and he sings street cred + mainstream hit this dude will be on top for a good while Bloody$Nate$ 05-20-2010, 01:18 AM who ever voted 6 months needs to be slapped lol no way drake falls off in 6 months his lyrics are by far hotter than any other artist out (on a lyrical stand point) the ladies like his look, and he sings street cred + mainstream hit this dude will be on top for a good while Agreed, he's versatile which leads to major longevity for however long he wants to go. I think he'll be popular for a long time. IIG 05-20-2010, 02:08 AM I don't know how long he'll be popular, but I question his ability to do big numbers. I think he'll debut #1, but Eminem drops the next week, and that will be the end of his reign on top with this album. I personally don't like his music, but to each his own. trainhard_187 05-20-2010, 02:14 AM I don't know how long he'll be popular, but I question his ability to do big numbers. Thats just me.. EM never really won me over. Sure hes dope and all, but his attacks towards other people are kinda getting OLD.. trainhard_187 05-20-2010, 02:16 AM Back on the original Thread.. Drake over Kid Cuddly any day.. I got into it with some one who said Drake doesnt write his own lyrics.. Some one please tell me I shoulda slapped him.. supRa 05-20-2010, 02:51 AM nah... he's stayin 4 quite some time... he's been out since 06 CrackYourJaw 05-20-2010, 02:59 PM Best lyricist out? SMMFH. :nonono: CaRnAgEViOLaToR 05-20-2010, 03:05 PM There are alot of rappers out there better than Drake...(Nas, Joe Budden, Royce Da 5'9, Illmaculate, Dumbfoundead, Lupe Fiasco, J.Cole, Eminem, Joell Ortiz) to name a few. Double_L 05-20-2010, 03:06 PM his lyrics are by far hotter than any other artist out (on a lyrical stand point) "'Bout to set it off in this *****, Jada Pinkett" "I can teach you how to speak my language, Rosetta Stone" "Two thumbs up, Ebert & Roper" "Can you see me? Can you see me? / Get your Visine on" ...all in the same song. I cringe every time I hear "Over." To each his own I guess. :dunno: DeepSleep 05-21-2010, 03:22 AM "'Bout to set it off in this *****, Jada Pinkett" "I can teach you how to speak my language, Rosetta Stone" "Two thumbs up, Ebert & Roper" "Can you see me? To each his own I guess. :dunno: He's a major improvement over what the radio's used to play before him. Baby steps, at least he doesn't rap about how hard he is. The average kid is the US can relate to Drake's lines which is a novel style of rapping. Listening to a bunch of frauds rap about there "hood" is sickening to the ears... Kobe Bryant 05-21-2010, 09:11 AM Smh at the Nas lost optioin. Who knows? He's an up and coming commercial artist. He's also an actor as well I think he'll be around for a while. Truth 05-21-2010, 04:27 PM Im a Nas fan. I just think its funny how people always say he lost. It was a joke. But trust me there are legions of people I know who think Wayne and Drake probably invented hip hop haha. That's how it goes. Truth 05-21-2010, 08:19 PM Kobe, its ray allen here. I'll be seeing you in the finals soon. Third Degree MM 05-22-2010, 02:48 AM this mutha****er is ****in overrated, simplistic and needs to seriously improve his skill neils7147933 05-23-2010, 09:02 AM He has less to do with how long Drake keeps making music, and more to do with who comes out in the meantime and makes Drake's style seem outdated. |
