View Full Version : Why the hell did Marvis Frazier fight Larry Holmes after only 10 bouts??? sonicman 06-20-2005, 02:06 AM Did ol' Joe want to see his son get decapitated or something? Tha Greatest 06-20-2005, 02:08 AM Who knows.. RwK 06-20-2005, 02:09 AM Welcome to boxingscene Larry. You will eventually find an answer to your question. My question to you is: Why did you fight Iron Mike at your old age, and get your ass handed to him? Just curious. BIGPOPPAPUMP 06-20-2005, 09:16 AM that's an easy question. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ jabsRstiff 06-20-2005, 09:21 AM Marvis had a decent resume going into the Holmes fight....having beaten fringe guys like James Broad & Joe Bugner. In fact, the people at KO magazine picked Frazier by decision, before the bout. Of course, it was a serious mismatch. Marvis Frazier was actually an excellent fighter. He should have fought at cruiserweight....but his pop wanted him at heavyweight. Joe also had Marvis slugging like he he himself used to....Marvis was much more of a boxer, a damn good one. !! Anorak 06-20-2005, 09:41 AM I found an interesting take on this question in Joe's autobiography, Smokin' Joe. jack_the_rippuh 06-20-2005, 12:23 PM Post it........
