Merchant is a hack. About ten years ago he and Gill Clancy were both saying Jones did things in the ring that Lennard only could have dreamed of. Now he is hater. Men like Roy putting it on the line are what give that guy work - and he just gets **** faced and blabbers. I have no idea why they[HBO]keep him. He really doesn't add to the commentary.I guess its just like everyone - he has his bias - his just happen to be differnt than mine.

Merchant enjoys getting under Roy's skin. I think it's funny.

Come on, Larry is just doing his job.. He always made stupid jokes and that's what he's best at.. and I love him for that..

When Larry is making comments about Roy, you have to stop thinking of RJJ as a commentator, but as a Boxer.

Think about it, if Roy wasn't sitting beside him, that comment would have been absolutely appropriate. Or if the comment was about someone else, lets say Oscar DLH..

haha,exactly,I dont see why it was even a disrespectful comment,all i took it to mean was that these two guys are trying to prove themselves to be legitamite contenders,so nobody can say "Well all they did was beat a faded Jones",that's not an insult it was a complement to the fighters.

in the past merchant has burnt me up but i got plenty of laughs when both him and foreman would go at it. sometimes i wondered if either of them was watching the same fight as me.

i got to tell you guys to give a listen to pedros radio show on ringtalk in sites radio archives or live every sunday. merchant is on there almost every week. and by god when he's not all hyped up in front of the camera on hbo and relaxed having a conversation with pedro or with phone ins he actually say some insitefull intelligent things. no foolin
