I am almost certain that neither Johnson/Tarver or Klitschko/Williaims will be all that exciting so I am going with Morales/Barrera III as fight of the year. Up until the night of that fight I would have went with JMM/Pacman, but I think MAB/Erik was better. It was competitive, exciting and although I think Barrera was ahead by at least 3 rounds, I knew it would be close because certain promotors had "plans" for Morales if he could win. I am glad we were blessed with two amazing wars. We got to see JMM get knocked down 3 times in the first round, then come back to outclass Pac and almost shut him out for the rest of the fight. That was an awesome fight and I wish I could see it again. Then we got one of the greatest fights I have ever seen in MAB/Morales. I am so glad I taped it.

I would have to agree, but I'm about half tempted to give the nod to Lacy/Sheika man that was an exciting ass fight!

This is tough as there have been some amazing fights this year. I'm going to have to go with JMM-Pacman but i may change my mind as there have been so many. Oscar-Hopkins definatly won't go down as the fight of the year. :D

true about the bernard/oscar fight, but i do think that it was a decent, if not good, tactical fight. I enjoyed it and i think it was good for boxing. we got tons of good fights this year. I love boxing

I was one of the few who said Oscar would win that fight, i remember that stupid bet i took on here. lol. It was good for boxing as Superfights like that are a rare thing these days.

We have had tons of good fights this year, what was the biggest shock for you this year? Mine was seeing Roy KO'd twice.

For me it is still JMM/Pacman for the simple reason that nobody went down in MAB/Morales 3. It is always exiting to see somebody gettin knocked down and coming back.

Im gona have to say Golota vs Ruiz. They were both hitting hitting each other like they wanted to kill each other. And the stands were crazy. There was a fight each round.

Trinidad vs Mayorga - the best comeback in boxing.

Barrera and Morales was exciting and competitive throughout the fight. Marquez/Pacquiao was kind of one sided after the first round in my opinion. It was still a great fight but Barrera/Morales was better.

yea its gotta be Barrera-Morales 3, with JMM-Pac coming in at #2, then Trinidad-Mayorga #3.

Tha biggest fight that was all HYPE and the biggest let down of all year would be Hopkins vs. Liver. Wat a dissapointment for the boxing world. Made a lotta people "quit" on boxing.

How can Hopkins/Delahoya be the biggest dissapointment when the fight went down the way most people thought. I don't think it made alot of people quit on boxing. HBO and the other media made it quite clear it would be more than likely a mismatch. Even though Larry Merchant tried to fool the viewers by penalizing Hopkins for not being aggressive.

I guess I personally felt it was a dissapointment. Of course the 20 other people from different walks of life felt the same way. The way Liver was talking was like he was going to go balls out. He didn't much to our surprise. Still a big dissapointment.

i meant the "general" public quit on boxing after that fight.

I watched Pac-Marquez again yesterday and still don't get the fuss. It was good, not great, fight. It was nowhere in the league of MAB-Morales III or even Corrales-Freitas. There was a hyperactive atmosphere, but no real hyperactvity outside of a few rounds. It was mostly Pac lunging and getting countered after the first with small spots of action.

Great

Trinidad-Mayorga
Barrera-Morales

Another note...Tito-Mayo was great, but there are a few other runner ups being forgotten. Sheika-Pemberton II and Edouard-Gibbs were also spectacular ans well as Lacy-Venderpool. All competitive (whicH Tito-Mayo was not).

Vk vs dw may be very exciting, allthough i doubt it gets more exciting than klitschko-sanders, it was so thrilling.

I am going to go with Pac JMM.

I am calling a new rule. To be fight of the year, the person who wins must come from behind, preferably off the canvas.

The FOTY has to have a knockdown.

I disagree with both these rules.

Haha Wezcar De La Hoya. :D

It has to be Barrera/Morales III. These guys slightly edge Pac/JMM just because they are the two better fighters and have the history and bad blood.

Hmmmm Lacy has been in two great fights this year. I think this is implicating that he'll be a very exciting fighter throughout the rest of his career.

Me too man...I got lucky and taped all 3 of theirs on one tape...probably my most prized taped considering the majority of mine are still out of the country ! Very good fight and a good end to the triology...if Morales had just opened up more think of how much more exciting it would have been. I got a mess. that HBO was replaying the Klitschko-Lewis, Klitschko-Johnson and Klitschko-Sanders fights on Dec.10th, so I have a chance to tape some of them again too! Very cool ;)
