JUYJUY 06-16-2005, 08:16 AM I pick 1991 on all of them.
Who were the Super-Middleweight champs at that time?? Aug 1991 is abit before all the future superstars of that division moved up from Middle eg Eubank, Toney, Benn, Nunn, Jones etc..

It was vacent. The ring has no love for Calzaghe, rightfully so.
I would imagine when he and Lacey unify, Lacey will get the nod.

Yeah but who was actually in that division at the time?? I don't recall ANYBODY who was at Super-Middleweight in Aug 1991! Lol seriously, I can't think who was there..?
LuKahnLi 06-16-2005, 04:31 PM Holyfield W12
Mormeck KO7
Johnson W12
Bernard Hopkins W12
Terry Norris W12
Judah W12 (remember, this is POST Chavez Taylor we are talking about)
J C Chavez TKO10 (Tszyu can't fight on the inside....But Chavez is one of the BEST infighters ever.)
Pernell Whitaker W12 (Horribly lopsided)
Jeff Fenech TKO8
Manny Pacquiao TKO5
Oscar Larios W12

The three titlists in 91' were:
IBF - Darrin Van Horn (Who Iran Barkley stomped in 92')
WBA - Victor Cordoba (Who lost to Michael Nunn in 92')
WBC - Mauro Galvano (Who Nigel Benn iced in 93')
Really, the early 90's stars of 168 like Benn, Nunn and Toney were just on the cusp at the time.....shame.
But holding the WBO title in 91' was Chris Eubank. Who in his prime I bet would give Calzaghe a much tougher time than he did recently. I don't know if he could handle Lacy.....Kessler he may be able to outbox.

Victor Cordoba was ranked #1, and other recognizable names were Fabrice Tiozzo and Merqui Sosa.
oldgringo 06-16-2005, 05:11 PM Holyfield UD Klitschko (7-5, 8-4, 7-5)
Mormeck UD Czyz (8-4, 8-4, 8-4)
Johnson TKO10 Hearns (wears him down and ends it with a right)
McCallum UD Hopkins (Hopkins is too old...7-5 on all cards)
Wright UD Norris (Wright is as big as Norris...7-5 on all cards)
Judah UD Taylor (Taylor already fought Chavez...8-4 on all cards)
Chavez KO9 Hatton (Brutal one sided beating for Hatton)
Whitaker UD Corrales (Very lopsided loss for Chico...11-1)
Fenech KO9 Barrera (If it's before Nelson then Fenech stops him)
Pacquiao KO8 Villesana (difference in speed overwhelms Vsan)
Larios UD Benevides (Larios' range/workrate gives him a 7-5 W)
jayschre 06-16-2005, 07:46 PM E. Holyfield vs. V. Klitschko= Holyfield either by UD or late rd. stoppage (way too much heart for Vitali to deal with)
B. Czyz vs. J.M. Mormeck= I see Mormeck winning by mid to late rd. tko
T. Hearns vs. G. Johnson= Hearns by KO late (even that late in his career he could still drop bombs)
McCallum vs. B. Hopkins= I think Hopkins wins by SD or maybe they would draw, either way would be a very technical and hard fought bout.
Terry Norris vs. Winky Wright= Winky by UD his defense would be too much for Norris.
Meldrick Taylor vs. Zab Judah= Post Chavez Taylor would lose by late rd. tko, but Before Chavez Taylor wins it by UD or even late rd. Stoppage.
Julio Ceasar Chavez vs. Ricky Hatton=Very ugly and dirty fight with Chavez winning by TKO mid to late rds. Hatton would not be able to hug and mug Chavez the way he did Tszyu.
Pernell Whitaker vs. Chico Corrales= Sweet Pea by lopsided UD, but there's always that chance that Chico would catch him on the top of his head while he's ducking around dodging punches like he always did.
Jeff Fenech vs. M A B= Varrera by mid to late rd. TKO would be the best fight of them all imo
M. Villansana vs. Pacman= most likely Pacman by tko due to cuts, basically cause i think if memory serves right that was the only way he was ever stopped, if not then Villansana ko's Pacman late
J. Benevides vs. Oscar Larios= Larios by UD

WBO Super-Middleweight title was Vacant in Aug 1991, Thomas Hearns vacated it. Chris Eubank defeated Michael Watson in September 1991 for the vacant title.

Give me a break! Calzaghe, Lacy and Kessler shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Eubank. Eubies was RING mag champion in 1992 ahead of Benn, Nunn and Barkley, he went undefeated in 43 fights and seemed unbeatable at one time.
