Taylor dominated as expected but seems to lack the power people thought he had. He has very good power but nothing big. He still needs to stay away from Tito and Hopkins. As always he is open for the right hand and tonight showed he is open to the jab over his jab as well.

Joppy needs to retire because he obviously didn't want to be in there tonight.

I agreed with Taylors own assessment of his performance after the fight. He said that he pops his jab a little too low to utilize his height advantage over his opponents but recognized that Joppy's determined jab was going over it so he switched it up a bit and had more success. I think Taylors willingness to change up something in his performance or repetoire is something that is going to set him apart from a lot of fighters and place him in the elite class, despite his apparent lack of power.

You've got to also remember that Hopkins couldn't drop Joppy either, they even had a bet on it, so that doesn't necessarily mean Taylor doesn't have any pop, I personally think Joppy's head has just filled with so much fluid from swelling up to pumpkin sized proportions from beatings over the years that his head will be able to withstand the force of nothing short of an atomic bomb.

J.T. did some great things in the ring tonight. Why not give him a shot at B-Hop or Trinidad? Who else should he fight next? Joppy was nothing short of disapointing, I basically retired tonight, if not official, the way he fought the last half of the fight will seal the deal. I cant think of any promotor or network that would put him in a fight the way he just gave tonight. I thought Taylor had a little bit more power than what he displayed tonight, however his hand speed seemed a touch faster that the last time I watched him fight.

I'm just saying because there was people on this board that was saying Taylor hit like a freight train or something like that. Any sensible person would know Taylor isn't ready for Hopkins or Tito. Taylor does seem to be the future so I wouldn't want Hopkins or Tito to take that away from him.

****, deep down I don't even think Taylor himself thinks he's ready for Hopkins or Tito, anything that came out of his mout after the fight tonight was just buzz speak to generate interest, heres hoping his people do the right thing and give him a few more times at bat before he starts to bang it out with the big boys. He has the tools he just needs some more preening.

I agree it is all just talk right now. He seems to open to fight a hard accurate puncher like Tito who will definitely touch him more than a few times. Hopkins is too crafty and can exploit all of Taylor's mistakes.

How many legit top 10 guys are there in the middleweight division?

Things that make you say..."Hrrrrrrmmmmm"

mic573

There are good fighters at middleweight like Ikeke but the big fighters are Hopkins and Tito. Taylor just needs to fight a few PRIME TRUE 160 pound fighters to convince me he is ready for the likes of Hopkins and Tito. Joppy was a true middleweight but not near his prime.

You don't know your ass from a hole in the ground. He learns from every outing and takes what is there. I like what I heard from his corner tonight too. The sky is the limit for this kid. Bring on Nard!

I don't think taylor is ready for tito. remember what happened to david reid and fernando vargas. tito can ruin careers of young fighters. hopkins and taylor may never fight, as hopkins is probably gonna retire soon. maybe he'll fight taylor in his last fight? who knows

Okay, I'm gonna try this again. I just replied in length to this and it told me my mess. was too short!

anyway, I like Taylor, but got irritated with him after a while. I understand that Joppy is one tough nut and a ko wasnt necessarily in the picture, but when Joppy got frustrated and started showing himself (keeping his arms down, etc) I wish Taylor had got ticked off just enough to unload on him and make the ref. stop it. Now, lets see if it will let me submit this....very weird!

( I had to copy and paste this...something's up with the site??)

That was something I was thinking also tracylee. There had to be a time where Jermaine told himself if he stepped it up he could of stopped Joppy.

That's a fact! Jermain would hit him 3-4 times in a row and then STOP!!! I kept yelling at him to stop admiring his work and finish it! The ref. looks at them and says "either of you gonna fight" (or something like that) which I think is pretty bad! :o
If he had just kept throwing punch after punch, I'm thinking the ref would have been more than glad to stop it. I just dont think theres any reason any scorecard should read 120-107 (and mine did too) :(

Okay, I'm guilty too...around rd. 7 I went and put some potatoes on to boil (was funner to watch) did Joppy by any chance win that round?? :D

Hello, Tracy. How are you today, girl? Well I was rooting for Joppy although I felt he was a di**head when he started to mock Taylor. Why? Because he was getting whooped bigtime. But to be fair, I thought Joppy deserved a round. Rounds 1 and 3 were competitive, in my opinion. Joppy's jab was looking good in the early going.

Doing ok...thanks ;) I understand Joppy getting frustrated, and I'll give him credit for being tough and not going down...but if I had given him a round it would honestly have been a pity round..sorry. :o The ole underdog had me pulling for him too after the first 3 rd's, but lost me when he started showing himself. I do remember everybody posting after the Marquez fight that they wanted to see him in against Joppy, a real middle wt...so, after last night I gotta say 'careful what you wish for'?? :D

Well Tracy, like I said, those first rounds were competitive but not clear, so I won't say that Joppy deserved them hands down.

well, Joppy did do better in those rd's. But, I've always heard 'never score a rd to a guy for improving since the previous rd's..etc..', and to me that is what I would be doing . Maybe I was just too critical?

I just liked the way Joppy's jab was landing and sometimes he made Taylor back up.

i dont know why taylors trainer was sayin dont chase him

why not chase him and knock him out he had tha chance, when jopppy started coverin up, taylor threw like a 4-5 punch combingation, then taylor would stop throwin, that's what taylors problem is, he aint aggressive enough, but he got hella potential if he can become more aggressive, i think he could've destroyed marquez and bunema earlier when he fought them, but taylor definately got tha skills

Joppy is a clown, he shouldn't get paid for the **** he did last night...Taylor look pretty fast, but I'm mad at him cuz he didn't go for the KO.

all taylor had to do was throw two body shots and than hit him in the head and joppy would have been down.

I owe you and will return it soon as it lets me (and all apologies for messing up a perfectly good thread :o )--

Well, evidently Taylor has progressed enough to take the title from B-hop.

I knew he would become a champ, but not that soon.
