Hi Everybody,

I am not a pro and I have never done it before, however, next week I start training. Basically I always liked to watch guys boxing and thought of taking it up myself, I have always been atheletic; I love sports and keeping fit. I am a professional model and then came the opportunity of model boxing, I jumped at the chance and I got through the casting! :p My first fight will be in September :boxing: if I get through a couple of fights the final will be in LA :) I'm really competitive and I'm taking this seriously, I really want to win and I will, I just would love some advice from you guys!

Thank you!

Kerri xx

ok first off, are you a man or a woman? second, If you are a woman stick to modeling because you'll make more money doing that than boxing, especially if you get your face messed up. third, what the heck is model boxing? fourth, If you're a man I hope you really are dedicated cause there is no turning back if you cut up your pretty face. good luck, that is all.

I'm a woman and a model, I'm sticking to modelling until I have to give up (for obvious reasons age etc) then I will be a sports physiotherapist, which is what I've always wanted to do I've got brains too, but modelling brings in more cash. I am not doing boxing for money, but just because I want to, I will be modelling at the same time. It's a model/celeb boxing thing where I will have to fight other models, we get to wear a face guards so it's not as hardcore as your game, or I probably wouldn't be able to model any longer. I think my first fight is in September and I start training on Wednesday. Some of the girls see this as a chance for more money and a bit of publicity, but I've always wanted to fight before; I'm very competitive and it's a great opportunity for me to fit it into my career. The fights are over here in the UK, but I want to be in the final in LA too. Just need general advice about training and fighting etc.

Haha well i've got one thats paid for; I get paid to train with him once or twice a week, he'll be training all the girls though, so they'll have the same techniques etc, but should I get another off my own back and do a bit more? Plus any tips from you guys can only give me an advantage

get as fit as you can for your first fight. Being your first fight you'll tire fairly quickly so get your fitness up. Run run run skip skip skip. punch the hell out of the heavy bag for 4x 2(then you should be able to do 3x2 fine) keeping your hands up and bringing them straight back to ur face after you throw. Collecting punches zaps your energy.

I'd recommend lots and lots of cardio to build up your stamina. Cardio also helps for foot speed, which is always helpful. Good luck.

If your couch is any good he'll teach you all that ****.

Alot of guys here(including myself) train almost every day, and models as a rule don't know **** about boxing...so i'm guessing your advantage will be huge if you read up on technique and train HARD. Shadow box and go at the bag for speed/muscle reflex

Maybe you could lift some weights too? although as a model i doubt you want too much muscle.

Edit: As for a nickname?

how about "Looks can kill"...or "Blonde bombshell"...something like that?

Thanks guys yep thats my pic, but we get to wear face guards, thats why I was happy cos I alwasy wanted to fight and now I can fit it into my career and not jepordise anything :p Yeah none of the models know **** about boxing, so I'm planning to know a bit more than them

jus practice your techiniques on the pads

handspeed is easy to practice if you get someone to grab your hands as you punch them gently in the stomach

work the heavy bag for power

run or swim to get fit

spar to learn what to throw when, instinctively

get hit in the stomach with a medicine ball to make sure it dont hurt in the ring

is this being shown in the uk? if so when and what channel?

Americans always have a problem with summing... anyway....
Another advantage you may have Kerri is that you may like the sport more that the other models (if they like it at all) so you will be more interested in it and have something to fight for in the fight as you like boxing.
Those who dont like boxing wont put in the effort needed and when it comes to he fight, will have nothing to fight for and most probaly loose.

:boxing: good luck :boxing:

If your wearing face masks, headshot KO's are out of the picture I guess. Practice left hook to the liver, ala, Arturo Gatti vs Leonard Dorin.

Maybe.

Liver shot's worse than a headshot.

I saw this dude on NBC once, they were lightweights I think.

Took a livershot and went down.

Got back up, took another one and started crying. Goddamn.

if you can, watch any good boxers you can. Ali, James Toney, your from britain so I guess Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank. Watch them and pick up on things they do and try them yourself.

For you to knockout a *****, I think you'll have to fight a bit dirty but it shouldn't be a problem. Just punch hard to her liver and kidneys and when you can, hit her in the back of the head as hard as you can, theres no padding there and it will hurt her pretty bad. Just keep that up and you'll be knockin out those *****es in no time.
good luck and I send my love.

You think so? Fair enough. It seems kinda sketchy, especially as i have never heard of a model boxing themselves out of the business but anyways.

I got a good laugh out of this.

Honey, if you were to box on TV everyone would turn it off. It's a crying shame to see a girl with a face like that get hit.

Stick to the modelling if that pays the bills, you got god given beauty so use it and forget the boxing carrer aspirations. If you still want to learn go ahead but don't let anyone lay a finger on the face.

All I did was ask for some advice where's all the hate coming from? As I said I haven't given up modelling, this is linked with modelling, most of the promo material is us modelling and that's where the money is in it for the organisers and then thats money for us. We get paid weekly for training and paid per fight http://www.modelboxing.com/ Ricecrispi, no one will lay a hand on my face cos we get to wear face guards, so it's fine ;) Slipx of course I could've ripped those pics, but I wouldn't run a whole website and pay for it, that'd be weird, I have a forum on my site like this one, but about other general stuff and I chat on there and put candid/real pics on, or you could email me on the contact page on my website and I'll reply http://www.lovekerri.com/contact.asp .

Well I start my training today, which Im looking forward too, I'll be with my trianer twice a week and doing general fitness the rest of the week. We go abroad somewhere hot soon to do mountain running and more fitness work in the heat it will make us fitter. Then in September/October time the fights will begin. They will be televised on Sky, so you can watch them. The finals will be held in LA

Nothing against you but the person running that modelsboxing site has no heart, no heart. How can you let beauitful women beat each other up for profit? Nearly as bad as pimping women.

Even with those things guards you get bruises, nose bleeds, busted lips, or cut lips. This includes the unseen stuff like neck pains, sore knuckles, wrist and shoulder pains. If you are really into it, go ahead but I hate seeing a pretty women getting into a fight.

You have to do boxing training 5 days a week. You don't have to work with a trainer just go in the gym and do shadow boxing and bag workouts.
2 days a week and you forget what you learned

Kerri
06-22-2005, 04:51 AM
Everythings for profit nowadays, it was 2 models that brought it to the UK; Jamelah and Leilani, so they're the pimps :p Yeah I'm planning to do more training myself too, well I'm off to my first session now :)

model boxing? Christ what the hell will they think of next? Perhaps they could have male boxers on the catwalk? lol
Hey i just saw a show recently in Europe where the model came out on a horse- now of course all the photographers started snapping shots all over the place. Of course the horse got upset by the flash and decided to throw the model off and jump into the front row- It then jumped up onto its back legs and dived onto all the tables.
It was funny stuff. Now if kerri reads this i hope she doesn't take offence to any of this cause i don't mean to pay out the modelling thing but geez sometimes it seems that modelling can go to real extreme's LOL

Kerri
06-25-2005, 05:10 AM
Yeah you get to do all different stuff in modelling, it's not always posing in front of a camera unless you want to, it's great and I'm an extreme kinda girl :p
