Hey everyone im new here, well I just wanted to say hello and that im a big fan of boxing. Well to tell you the truth I would really like it if someone were to give me advice. Well you see I’ve always been into boxing. Im only sixteen years old (yea laugh if you want)but im serious I really want to get into boxing as a competitive sport. I may be young but I love boxing. I’ve never been in a club fight or anything like that. But I have been in many fights growing up my dad used to box a bit. And he taught me everything he knows. I’ve been in pretty good shape most of my life. I want to join a club and get a trainer to help me out. Even though i've been in fights and been know for my fighting..I know that there is way more to I than just punching the **** out of someone. I want to get good technique and foot work. Most of all I want to get in better shape. I would really appreciate some help. Someone to put me on track because I don’t know were to start.
Thanks a lot,

Welcome to Boxingscene.
16 isnt a young age here btw. U sound as if u feel like the only 16 year old on here. Id say there are more 15-23 than there are older than that.
I would help you but i dont know where you live so i cant really. All i can say is join a gym pretty quick, learn everything at the most basic level and make sure you listen to every bit of advice your trainer has. You sound as if you know the basics anyway so i could help you with that but you know already.
good luck. pm me if u want any help.

Agreed. I started at 28.
-Go to a boxing gym.
-Run.
-Hit the free weights. Debatable if you're new school v. old school, but I'm doing it.

too right... do what he said. Find a gym, that is near you and has a good reputation, not just for boxers, but gym, trainers and fighters altogether. This maybe another issue, but at ur age, its hard 2 know what ur gettn yaself in for. Ask around and talk to boxers. I knew one trainer, who didnt care about health of his fighters despite his great reputation, he simply didnt care about fighters, hence, i didnt join there. On the other hand, this other trainer i knew, could only care about money, hence, i didnt join there either. Ask around, hopefully u have mates who are boxers and older peers who will point u in right direction. Overall dude, there no rush, ya only young, if u rack up the fites, and dont like one gym, then go 2 another one. its apart of boxing man. Good luck with it, train hard and have fun!
