What seems to be delaying boxing from the fans is the belts. Previously it was common to have an undisputed champion. Now each division has several champions. It might seem that there is more marketability involved, but at most times we are all looking for just 1 person at each division who we can say is elite and above the others. Here is my list:

Heavyweight - Chris Byrd. I know most can make an argument for Vitali or Brewster, but until I see them fight more opposition I think Byrd is the only consisten champion. I won't even mention Ruiz who in my mind is ludicrious. Toney needs more fights.
Cruiserweight - Jean Marc Mormeck.
Light Heavyweight - Glenn Johnson, beat both Tarver and Jones.
Super Middleweight - Jeff Lacy. Name fimiliarity.
Middleweight - Bernard Hopkins. Undisputed champion.
Light Middleweight - at this point I'm unsure, not a splendid division and not too competitive especially with Winky moving up.
Welterweight - Zab Judah. Perhaps the most solid from all the championship. There is no doubt that when you think 147 you think of Zab Judah.
Light Walterweight - Floyd Mayweather. Undefeated, young, will BEAT Gatti. I'll put 300k on it if anyone wants. Ricky Hatton vs Mayweather might decide this category for good.
Lightweight - Diego Coralles. Obvious.
Superfeatherweight - Barrera. I think Morales is right there with the fans as well, but his solid comeback to beat the prince and Morales in their third match just shows that he is better than ever.

Lets get rid of the belts, boxing is not the WWE.

if only it were that easy, right? boxing's best days was when it was a sport. now, its a business. and business is all about making money and each organization has their own champion to bring in the crowds (john ruiz, chris byrd, lamon brewster are incapable of this), and bring in the money. boxing will never be a sport again.

All the current belts definitely have to be thrown out. Would be awesome if we could get one international pro boxing association, like the NBA or the NFL but worldwide, with one world champ in each division and all the top-ranked guys fighting other top-ranked guys all the time... boxing paradise

Yeah I feel your post but for ur Jr.middle, Kassim Ouma, Travis Simms is pretty good to but I dont think he rolls with Ouma
