View Full Version : Renzo Gracie vs BJ Penn July 29th!!!!1
Wizard 06-12-2005, 01:27 PM I'm not sure if you guys have read this on the other forums so I posted it here for you ****wads...
Should be a good fight, Renzo's getting older now but is a higher natural weight so this should be interesting. I have to go with Renzo on this one but BJ should do well, I smell a dec.
VulgarTheClown 06-12-2005, 02:00 PM this is a cake fight for BJ. Its unfortunate Renzo is a great guy prolly the nicest guy involved in the grappling/MMA world but he is almost 40 and he isn't Randy. I see BJ dismantleing him in the 1st unless he wants to play BJJ with Renzo then it will go to a decision.
BJ needs to take a real fight.
Wizard 06-12-2005, 02:16 PM I have a feeling it could unfold that way but I wouldn't right off Renzo like that, he is very well rounded and might have the edge standing up. It will be a competitive fight.
It would of been a competitive fight a few years ago, I say Penn takes it. Renzo was probably the best fighting Gracie in his time, but he's getting old. BJ Penn needs to fight some real competition. Instead, he's going after people with big names and less skill. Then making a big deal about it.......

Hmm, Lyoto Machida destroyed Rich Franklin(whom by the way is the UFC Middleweight Champion). BJ lost to Lyoto, I dont know the difference in weight but I heard it was big. Bj lost by decision.
I dont see how you can say that he is fighting people with big names and less skill. Or are you saying that BJ's skills are way above the fighters that accept his fights?
BJ is fighting guys like Renzo and Rodrigo only because of there last name. If he really wanted to prove himself he would go after people with big skills not just big names. Loyoto beat Franklin, yeah, what's that gotta do with BJ vs. Loyoto, different styles make for different fights. Loyoto isnt even top ten either, 9 out of 10 times Franklin beats Loyoto. I'd bet everything I got on it. I know you're hawaiann so BJ Penn is like a hero to you or some shit. All I was saying is I'd like to see him fight more skilled fighters...........
Squezze 06-13-2005, 07:48 AM My prediction, Penn by KO. I just can't see Renzo pulling this one out.
Wizard 06-13-2005, 12:19 PM I think Renzo will get injured or else it will go to the dec.
sambat 06-13-2005, 08:59 PM should be a great fight. BJ wins on paper but Renzo can take him. hard to call.

All great wins, I'd just like to see him keep fighting guys on that level.....

He did against Dwayne Ludwig, Takanori Gomi and Matt Hughes. I know that Hughes is your hero but you shouldnt blast a fighter because he beat your hero. Beat is not the word but totally dominated a fight from the beginning to the end and making the Hughes tap out is something to behold. :p
Hughes aint my hero, he's aight though. Like Trigg told BJ "Why are you gonna fight Rodrigo Gracie and claim you're the best at 185? Why dont you take out the whole devision?"

Who cares what Trigg said!
