It's time we become a republic so yes I think we should change the flag as well as the anthem. But if we stay the same the flag is fine for me it's much better then the other designs anyway. jameshepenstall 04-26-2010, 12:12 AM Im a Kiwi but we have the same issue here, some people want it changed to reflect our so-called current identity. I dont think either flag should change as our flags are storied and they give a solidarity to Australasia. Out of all the designs shown above, I like this one the best: http://www.flagsaustralia.com.au/images/Republican-1956.jpg Republican Socialist League 1956- remove the Union Jack and replace with the Commonwealth Star. I think it's important to keep the flag recognisable. Those green and gold flags look gaudy and cheap. Ive got to admit i have no idea really, just guessing. The big star underneath the Union Jack is called the Commonwealth Star and isn't from a constellation at all. Each of it's points is meant to represent an Australian State/territory. 7 points of star = 6 states + combined territories.
