"born to roll" is ok to me. I like the beat.

By the way, Im not saying "protect ya neck" is the best. I just made this thread to provoke conversation. "triumph" should also be in the discussion.

This is my top 5

5.Slick Rick- Hey Young World (Slick Rick is my favorite rapper. He's so easy to listen to. He's all fun, no drama. I love the positive messages that's spread on this song. The beat is magestic.)

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ea-ezolZq5k&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ea-ezolZq5k&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

4.Gangstarr- in memory off (Incredible instrumental and very down to earth, thought provoking lyrics are what make this one of my favorite rap songs. Guru's last verse is one of my favorite verses ever.)

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BjWfRpfpXJQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BjWfRpfpXJQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

3.Tupac and Biggie Running (original) I used to play this song so much it was rediculous. I mean, for like 3 hours a time. all the verses are on point. It's got two of rap's biggest legends on it.

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/fggHgxMODSM&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/fggHgxMODSM&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

2.Mobb Deep- Trife Life ( Reason being, the instrumental is mezmorizing and puts me in a reflective mode and in a zone. I love how certain instruments appear in and out at certain parts of the song. It's a storytelling track and it reminds me of a time in my youth when I used to hop the bus to see this girl that lived in a rough part of town. Though I wasn't set up by here, the story makes me think of my trips to see her)

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pj2bqFJaeFo&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pj2bqFJaeFo&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

1.Tupac- Old school (Reason being, the instrumental is very inspirational and joyous, Tupac rapped with a lot of emotion. The song makes me think back on my youth. I always get amped as hell when I hear this song)

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KB7cV3oJQFc&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KB7cV3oJQFc&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Here's the rest of my top 10.

10.Atmosphere- God's Bathroom Floor

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-QjbfztRphk&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-QjbfztRphk&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

9.Xzibit- The Foundation

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pQh3RZ3CdZ8&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pQh3RZ3CdZ8&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

8.Tupac and the Outlawz-High Speed (Hypnotizing chorus, heartfelt, deep lyrics by Pac and the Outlawz and the chanting of the hook that goes on during the last couple minutes of the song are what make this one of my favorite rap songs ever. The chanting of the chorus makes me lose myself in the song. It's like an ancient tribal chant or something, the way it was repeated time and time again.)

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/PrRVO0LS0go&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/PrRVO0LS0go&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

7.Atmosphere-Trying to find a balance (Another song that gets my amped as hell. First of all, I love the vocal sample at the beginning and love the guitar riff that's looped throughout the song. My favorite part of the song is the end when the drum disappears and it's just the guitar and Slug singing. Slug, like Tupac, brings a lot of raw emotion to the table. This song is very emotionally charged. It sounds like the feeling you'd get going 100 mph on the freeway.)

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gbEwHJX95QE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gbEwHJX95QE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

6.Tupac- Until the End of Time (This song could easily be number 1 on my list. At one point it was number 1 on my favorite of all time. Perfect flow by Pac, beautiful chorus, beautiful instrumental. This song is flawless.)

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/a7JuArhpTB8&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/a7JuArhpTB8&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Protect ya kneck was incredible...i love how ghostface starts off his verse

"For crine out loud my style is wild so book me
Not long is how long that this rhyme took me"

They all kill it but I think the Gza had the best verse, he had one of the best witty flows ever back then...he just came across as this genius, hence the reason why thats his nickname.

Yeah. Protect ya neck always has me buggin out. Every member of Wu-Tang slaughtered it. Meth had so much potential, he had a great career, but he could have done more as a solo artist if he wanted to.

"The way I make the crowd go wild, sit back relax won't smile
Rae got it going on pal, call me the rap assassinator
Rhymes rugged and built like Schwarzenegger
And I'm gonna get mad deep like a threat, blow up your project
Then take all your assets"-Rae

wow. every single verse in that song is flames.
