Sometimes I think that rappers from the 90s just can't win no matter what they cook up. For example, you take Red and Meth's Blackout 2 from last year. That album had songs that you would think would go over well on the radio, but they didn't. I thought "Mrs. International" would blow up or City "Lights"

But neither did anything. I guess my question is, can rappers(aside from Jay-Z) that are over 35 have hit singles these days? Or are they automatically ignored for their age?
Like what if Ghostface came out with the hottest radio song tommorow, would it be a hit? probably not but fans see ghostface and they think old, so its dismissed?

C/s this thread....if meth and red couldnt do it last year with Blackout 2, no one can. I was just listening to that the other day and I was thinkin that its just as good as anything else that dropped last year excluding ob4cl2. Mrs international was a good song, im surprised too that it wasnt more popular...and city lights.
sm ****in head at these kids preferring wocka flocka over meth and red :smh:

Pretty much if you aren't Jay or Snoop as an older artist you not gonna get whole lot of commercial love. Its ****ed up but that's the way it is. Otherwise you gonna need an undeniably hot record to get spins.

Well Ghostfaces "Back like that" did ight I think with Ne-yo but that was mostly Ne-yo. "Mrs international" was a sexy ass song. My ex even liked it and shes into all that kind of music.
I just don't think they give it much of a chance and I blame it on the radio too for not playing that ****. Because if they played it on the radio people all over would be like"who's that" and be all up on that sh*t. Radio needs to do a better job of just playing music.

Yea but rappers do fall off, people lose interest in them, its inevitable, they can't stay that popular forever.

Thats not my point though. My point is, some of these veterans have been dropping legitimatley hot songs. And people are showing no interest even though the songs hot. Thats doesn't make sense to me.
