View Full Version : Roy's too biggest gifts to boxing....
Great fighter that Roy Jones theres no doubt, he has made a lot of people look silly in the ring, however through all of his years of fighting on a championship level his two biggest contributions to the sport have been his last two fights, both ending in awesone ****in KO's. It wasn't his performance against Hopkins, nor was it against Toney, it wasn't his behind the back punch of that other Glenn, nope...it was him getting his ass beaten.
Roy your a great champ, for years I thought you were boring as hell yet unbeatable, thanks for the last two fights because everything before that was pretty damn dull. Hell I think you should continue to fight Roy you never have been more exciting than you are now!
Ranger2408 09-27-2004, 04:45 PM by the way it is TWO and what on earth was that in aid of?

jack_the_rippuh 09-27-2004, 06:28 PM Roy...Roy, Roy, Roy...Roy, Roy, Roy!!! Anyone ever see that commercial?

I smell high school punk *****, "The typical hater"
Mr. Untouchable 09-27-2004, 07:10 PM yeah you sound real stupid right now, you should have included that footer about "talking boxing, but not knowing boxing". Name 5 fighters that are above the 140 lb weight limit that have had more exciting fights than roy jones... Yeah is fights have been kind of boring since turning light-heavy, but c'mon with the bullsh*t...
FistFest 09-27-2004, 07:31 PM Great fighter that Roy Jones theres no doubt, he has made a lot of people look silly in the ring, however through all of his years of fighting on a championship level his two biggest contributions to the sport have been his last two fights, both ending in awesone ****in KO's. You got it all backward do you? You watch the guy for his losses? Do you attend retard school?
What a bunch of temperamental *****es we have here, ya know I wrote a while back about a guy name Gerald Mccellan and multiple people had alot of fun after that by making fun of G-man being in a comma, I never said anything bad about Roy Jones, I stated for a long while he was boring yet unbeatble and that his last two fights were his most exciting fights ever...what, you guys thought that him and nard treated the fans to a real eye pleasing fight, watch it again I have it, I will flat out send it to you in the mail if you give me address, I don't need it. Maybe I should not have said that he should keep fighting( I shouldn't of) cuz he shouldn't no doubt about that, but **** in a, jump all over me, nothing I said wasn't true, except yeah he should quit.
As for babbylon killah, you wanted 5 fighters above 140 who are more exciting, ****-thats ****in easy! The last time Roy was exciting was against Clinton Woods, I was ringside to watch Roy beat up on a bum, tell me killah what Roy fight was just breathtaking to watch-I never critisize someone who is on this board by saying they don't know **** about the sport-ya know why because this sport should embrace every fan it has because lets face it its not the NFL or Nascar(both suck compared to the seet science) hell I have probably been following boxing longer than most who critisized me, but thats even stupid for me too say, point is you don't like someones post tell them why, don't tell them they don't know the sport because chances are they probably know more than you think. anyways lets see five fighters above 140 more exciting than Roy-note you said exciting not talented, here goes-Felix Trinidad, Oscar Delahoya, Lennox Lewis, Ricardo Mayorga, Vassilly Jirov, Mike Tyson, Joe Calzaghe, James Toney, Bernard Hopkins, ARturo Gatti, Emanuel Augustus, Teddy Reid, I could go on and on,(all more exciting none more talented) Roy was the best fighter for a decade, I think no one can argue that however he was boring, to show you how boring he was people have been talking about his one round destruction of montel griffin for nearly a decade saying man if you make roy made he montell griffin your ass(Roy fans and boxing cult fans desperately needed some new material but Roy never delivered anything like that ever again)-all of the fighters I have mentioned above I personally would rather watch than Roy fight another mandatory(even his self promoted undercards suck, ever been to a Jones undercard?) I am sorry for offending anyone witht this thread, I love the sport and recognize what a Roy Jones legacy is all about, again I apologize for offending anyone on this site!
Mr. Ryan 09-28-2004, 02:39 PM I gotta admit, Roy Jones Jr.'s legacy is so severely tarnished now that he has been knocked out in consecutive fights. His chin had always remained a mystery until he was ko'ed and left helpless on the ground against Johnson. An article had said this was Jones' worst nightmare, but it is also Jones' fans' worst nightmare, as he was adored by people who loved him, along with Tyson and "Super" Zab Judah. Roy Jones is no longer a value to the boxing community and should bow out before he is embarrassed further.
puppy_dogg 09-28-2004, 02:49 PM he stands beside spinks in the history books because of his victory over ruiz. he was considered p4p #1 in the world for over a decade. he showed the world an akward yet brilliant skill in the ring that no one has ever seen before. no matter how much you haters want it, you'll never be able to keep roy out of the hall of fame and you'll never take his already legendary status.
i admit that hes done now, and i hope he quits so he does'nt give yall anymore **** to talk. yes im a nuthugger. roys the man
I agree his legacy has been tarnished, however he was still unquestionable the best fighter in the world for years, could somone have exposed him sooner, maybe, but they didn't(Toney and Nard had their chance). Ken Griffey Juniors legacy has been hurt too, but you can't forget that at one time for three or four years he was the best the game had to offer-Jones is the same.( ****,after getting ripped apart on this Site for sort of ripping Jones now I have to defend him) Tyson gone definately but even though I hate Zab I thought he beat spinks by a round, he could easily defeat him in a rematch making him Ring king at 147.
Mr. Ryan 09-28-2004, 02:52 PM no matter how much you haters want it, you'll never be able to keep roy out of the hall of fame and you'll never take his already legendary status.
Very true, which is why the Boxing Community employed Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson to do what we couldn't. :)
Mr. Ryan 09-28-2004, 02:53 PM he stands beside spinks in the history books because of his victory over ruiz.
You don't really believe that, do you? Why didn't Jones fight Lennox? Was it his disdain for fighting quality competition?
puppy_dogg 09-28-2004, 02:59 PM You don't really believe that, do you? Why didn't Jones fight Lennox? Was it his disdain for fighting quality competition?
what do you mean do i beleive it? its a fact. lightheavies moving up and only 3 winning heavyweight belts(cant remember the very first guy). not to mention roy started as a middleweight and became heavyweight champion of the world.
Mr. Ryan 09-28-2004, 03:00 PM what do you mean do i beleive it? its a fact. lightheavies moving up and only 3 winning heavyweight belts(cant remember the very first guy). not to mention roy started as a middleweight and became heavyweight champion of the world.
Would it have mattered if Michael Spinks moved up and fought Mike Weaver or Georrie Coetzee instead of Larry Holmes?
puppy_dogg 09-28-2004, 03:06 PM mabye he did'nt fight the best heavy in the world, but ruiz is a 10 ten heavy with the wba belt. its not lennox but its still history. i thought you were a jones fan sensation?
Mr. Ryan 09-28-2004, 03:10 PM mabye he did'nt fight the best heavy in the world, but ruiz is a 10 ten heavy with the wba belt. its not lennox but its still history. i thought you were a jones fan sensation?
A Jones fan? Not quite. Even if I was a Jones fan, the facts are indisputable. He went for an alphabelt instead of Lennox Lewis. That is simply cowardly record padding. "The Sensational One" does not look kindly on "Mr. Unknockoutable".
I agree with the asian sensation, Michael Spinks moved up and fought the man at heavyweight. Roy Jones was never the heavyweight champ because Ruiz was never the champ. Ruiz had a belt and was awful, thats why Jones fought him-If he wanted to become the King of the heavies Lennox Lewis was still there and he never seriously considered that option. Jones has always look to take the easy way out-after Tarver struggled his ass off to beat REggie Johnson for the mandatory Roy thought it was easy pickens, Roy also dismissed the Tarver ko of harding because Tarver had lost every round before he landed his haymaker, roy thought as did I that Tarver could easily be outboxed . So instead of staying at heavyweight to try and truly become the champion he left saying Tarver really deserves a shot, Roy didn't believe that, he thought it was an easy fight! Well he was wrong, by avoiding what he thought could get him ko'd in the heavy division he chose to take what he thought was the safe route, it backfired!( regardless of what I think his legacy is crumbling in these forums, check out the DM vs. RJ poll, it was 5 to 5 last time I looked and I voted for Jones.
Mr. Ryan 09-28-2004, 03:17 PM Jones simply isn't what we all thought he was. Remember, the hand is quicker than the eye. Jones is not the greatest of all time.
puppy_dogg 09-28-2004, 03:19 PM jones came down cause tarver had been talking so much **** for the longest time. tarver was even at the ruiz post fight confrence, calling jones out and making fun of him. i dont see how people think that tarver won the first fight, tarver just was'nt throwing in the late rounds, and jones took over.
puppy_dogg 09-28-2004, 03:21 PM Jones simply isn't what we all thought he was. Remember, the hand is quicker than the eye. Jones is not the greatest of all time.
i dont think i would say that hes the greatest of all time either but hes defintley one of the greatest.
Mr. Ryan 09-28-2004, 03:22 PM i dont think i would say that hes the greatest of all time either but hes defintley one of the greatest.
I'll give you this, Jones could've beaten Fritzie Zivic.
Mr. Ryan 09-28-2004, 03:23 PM jones came down cause tarver had been talking so much **** for the longest time. tarver was even at the ruiz post fight confrence, calling jones out and making fun of him. i dont see how people think that tarver won the first fight, tarver just was'nt throwing in the late rounds, and jones took over.
I could give a **** less about Tarver or Jones. In my opinion, they both are overrated and disgust me. But if I had to pick one of these overpaid primadonnas, it would be Tarver because he doesn't just sing it, he brings it. Jones only does the former.
puppy_dogg 09-28-2004, 03:28 PM evryone ive seen says they like one or the other. no wonder, your a dirty pacman fan.
no starting ****, just j/k

Pacquiao is a great fighter who hasn't ducked anyone. If anything, Ayala, Morales, Barrera, and Larios have ducked him. Let's take a deep breath and think things through before we say anything. Pacquiao never called himself "Mr. Unknockoutable", Roy Jones did.
puppy_dogg 09-28-2004, 03:35 PM :D lol/ just JOKING, you ****ty, dirty pacman lover. lol
m00ks 09-28-2004, 03:38 PM Scap, did I read right when you said Bernard Hopkins was more exciting than RJJ??

What rhymes with SCAP, maybe tw#t, nope, ahhhhhhhh got it CRAP.....if the name fits, damn newb.
Bernard Hopkins is overall more exciting than Roy, not the carl daniels nard, but the guy that fought in the 90's, the phone booth junkyard dog bernard-yes you are right scap rimes with crap. What exciting fight was Roy ever in? I know he had no competition and he made it look easy which most of the time he did. However he has had opportunities to be involved in great fights and pased-look at the first tarver fight, that could have been a great fight but Roy refused to mix it up-this last one with Glencoffe, all ROy had to do was meet him half way and that would have been a great fight, Roy has never excited me and this is a guy that I have paid to see fight live twice.
